I've been wearing progressive lens for about 4+ years already and am quite happy with it. Some of my frens complain that they feel giddy. Maybe initially for me but after a while (maybe within the day?) it was ok. It's a matter of getting used to it.

My progressive lens come with transition lens as well, so it has the sunglasses effect with it gets sunny. At least I dont look so \"ah ma\" reading, otherwise I will be peering over the glasses when trying to read with normal lens. 😐

Being the vain me, I get the frameless specs, so that from far, it looks like I'm not wearing glasses. :politebleah: So far, my long-sightedness is holding steady 🙏 and my short-sightedness and astig is slowly decreasing. yay!!

      😉

Nowadays I do take off my glasses to read at times, but then when I look up, i cant see the faces of pple clearly and that can be embarrassing if u dont acknowldge them (esp if its yr boss!). Also I dont know if taking off glasses to read means more strain on the eyes in the long run.

Yes, I made a fool of myself once.
I was w/o glasses as I was busy typing a report. A man came; I looked up and thought he was Mr X (my colleague) whom I was about to call. I told him a lot of things about the report and then I asked why he was such early in the office, only to realise he was not Mr X but a new colleague who has just joined my office. 😛

So after hearing all the responses, I am still unsure which route I shd go down! Looks like there is no perfect soln!

Yes, I think there isn't a \"one-solution fits all\" kind of solution. Different people have different needs.

I had lasik done in year 2004, after some years i had some degree back abt 25-50, was told by doctor its fine to keep the degree as when i gets older i will get LaoHua so the degree can OFFSET the laohua. No regrets getting the Lasik done as it was so MUCH more conventient then hv to wear contact lens. The contact lens was giving me problems and my eyes will be red and sore after whole day of wearing it.

was told that lasik cannot correct astig then, not sure of the technology now.

Noticed the last post was quite some time ago. Is there any new technology out there right now?

I tried out multifocal contact lenses recently (almost all the available brands in Singapore!!) but none of them seems to work for me. I was told by the optometrist due to my astigmatism, I can never get a perfect match. If I drive (must see distance clearly), I just compromise on near vision. But when the need to read/check handphone so frequent, it’s impossible to compromise on near vision. So I’m still stuck with my progressive specs…

Progressive specs is not cheap nowadays. Easily $400 with so so frame…
Anyone using RGP hard lenses for presbyopia+astig?
                Any other option?

Presbyopia degree drops fast too. My short sightedness was stable for 20 years, but my presbyopia degree dropped from 50 to 150 in a short period.

I have been using progressive glasses for more than 10 yrs. I gave up on contacts even before needing progressives for a variety of reasons, so never explored progressive lenses. The cheapest place I've found so far for progressive glasses is the Owndays chain - $299 for frame and lenses. I've made 2 pairs of glasses with them so far, and also \"computer\" glasses, and I'm very happy with them. I'm not fussy about frames etc, though. $400 is also quite a good price - I've heard of prices much higher!

Glasses are so ex now? I thought <$200 can make a pair. Also, when making a pair of glasses, does it take a few days before we can collect it? Tks
