      Term 1

English - girls are expected to be able to read sentences. They do stories - similar stuff as other Pri sch like Aitong
Math - only doing number bonds & bit of addition/subtraction within 10 or 20 (can’t remember) Plus ordinals
Chinese - simple stuff with basic hanyu pinyin

          check first thing, first -
confirm whether any school bus fetch children from the east, to Marymount Convent primary.

if no school bus, to the east : how is your daughter going to school, daily ?

          OR

if got school bus, and school bus fetch your daughter 5.30 am daily (Monday to Friday ) :
do you still want this school ?

can your daughter and you (parent) \"take it\" 365 days per year, waking up everyday 5 am early morning, for the next 6 years (P1 to P6), minus away the school holidays, in June / December, plus one week short break in March / September ?

anyway, here is Marymount school bus operator's telephone contact, for you to confirm :

Hi, jts I have a friend who lives in Sengkang and wants to consider Marymount Convent due to its reputable Rhythmic Gymnastics CCA as a first niche, followed by Aesthetics as 2nd niche.

The school attained the 2nd niche status in Aesthetics in 2013 with its distinctive Arts programme that permeates the whole school community. The girls in Marymount Convent School are given opportunities to develop and showcase their artistic talent in both the visual and performing arts, so that they would better appreciate the beauty around them, and learn how to express themselves and their emotions creatively through their chosen art forms. Pupils’ artistic skills are honed through their active participation in the various art forms. For visual arts, pupils are exposed to art forms ranging from western art, Chinese calligraphy, ceramics and print-mak-ing while the performing arts programme provides opportunities for pupils to explore dra-ma, music-making, choral singing and dance forms ranging from creative movement to fusion ethnic and contemporary dances.

My gf was asking me about MCS and I was sharing with her that next year the school will be operating at the permanent location, Marymount Rd, after the PERI upgrading and more facilities and more CCAs could be offered next year as current parents have to fill up a CCA survey form to select 3 CCAs for their children who had in mind what they want to join next year and to suggest 2 new CCAs for the school.

The school provides abundant opportunities for pupils to develop holistically in their academic and non-academic areas.

It is easier to get into this school through Phase 2C without balloting but will need to go through balloting in Phase 2Cs based on past years historical statistics that is found in this forum created by chief kiasu.

              Hi,

My dd got accepted at Marymount Convent. Our problem is that the bus provider does not have a service with a route that includes our place.

Do you happen to know any 3rd party bus service providers that we can check?

              thanks

Kindly advise the pros and cons of this school as I realised that the in take is really Low, is there any reason for being so?

                  Cheers

Congrats on becoming part of the MCS family! 😄

Unfortunately, I think there's only 1 bus service provider (as fas as I know, I may be wrong though). I know some parents have engaged cabs on a long term basis.. So you might want to check with your class's parent's whatsapp chat groups?

                        Hi Jade!

We share a similar nick! 😄

My DD is currently in MCS, and it's really a very good school. The low take-up rate (from locals) comes because it is a girl's school with zero affiliation for secondary admission. Also, it's perched on a hill, in a low density residential area. Guess that's the reason why?

However, the school is excellent in its emphasis on character development and opportunities for the girls in CCA, leadership etc. The homework is definitely no walk in the park - the teachers are very serious about academics and the honeymoon year is likely P1, I guess! In fact, my DD's Chinese Language tutor was telling me that MCS's Chinese lessons were faster and deeper in depth as compared to her tutees from SAP schools.

Because of the average take-up rate by locals, my DD has had friends from Philippines, China, Japan, USA, and even Germany! The ease of entrance and availability of space for foreigners allows my DD to have a taste and understanding of different cultures. It definitely makes her school experience not a typical one. 😄 Living in an increasingly cosmopolitan world and the need for Singaporeans to broaden our perspective beyond our shores, I like to think MCS girls start right from the age of 7. 😄
