quite a number of neighborhood sch cut off for express is 188 ( no need affiliation) - but parents need to make co -decision
with child to choose express or NA for this results - getting 188 may allow the child to go NA stream in a sch with better teaching n learning processes ...vs entering into a typical neighbourhood sch express stream :scratchhead:

for daughter's affiliated sec, below 200 will be NA stream.
188 in express stream may be a little stressful if grouped in a class of students who have 200.

Just for discussion, how the sorting based on merit works? How merit is ranked? It is clear for non SAP schools. However, for SAP schools, the computer system can sort them in two ways.


In descending order.
Sorting example 1: Priority to HMT
256
255+1
254+2
253+3
255
254+1
253+2
252+3
continue .......

Sorting example 2: Priority to main T-score
256
255+3
255+2
255+1
255
254+3
254+2
254+1
254
253+3
continue ......

Anyone can feedback which sorting is used (1) or (2)? Or there is (3)?

It's fairly straightforward as well.

When applying to SAP schools, bonus points form part of your score. Hence,
(1) 255+3, 255+2, 254+3 is > 256
(2) 255+1, 254+2 = 256

In the even that (2) requires a tie break, SC > PR and others. If there is still a tie, say between two SC, the one with the higher unrounded aggregate score will be posted into the school first. Therefore, 256 > 255+1 > 254+2.

Can do what my \"dear\" sister did when her twin sons took PSLE a few years back.

They flew off right after submitting their school choices and didn't come back till the day before
school starts. Before flying off, my sister made copies of their results, testimonials, references,
etc and left them with me, along with proxy letters, and a big chart of if...then...else, ie if admitted to
school A, then no appeal, else appeal for school B, etc, etc.

In the end, it was this uncle who had to take leave and report to the 2 different Sec Schools (one in
the East, the other in Central) on behalf of the 2 nephews. Then traveled to 4 other schools to submit

Wh didn't u help appeal for the twins to be placed in the same school? Unless their t-scores are very far apart like the earlier e.g. shared by a poster. :scratchhead:

It means the sorting is from 256 to 255 to 254 etc based on T-score. HMT gives priority but T-score decides the ranking.

Sorting (1) is 256 to 255 to 254 etc based on (T-score + HMT), Means 254+3 is higher rank than 256+0.

Yes, their T-scores were indeed far apart...a difference of 7 points IIRC.
That's why appealed at 4 schools...2 for each boy.

If the COP of the SAP school is 256, then the 255+3 might end up not getting into the SAP school?
I think that will result in a riot.

Thanks BigDevil and Floppy feedback. The ranking is equal based on T-score+HMT, with exception on tie case.
Example
256, 255+1, 254+2, 253+3 (equal)
255, 254+1, 253+2, 252+3 (equal)

Only once reach COP point (if it is 255), 252.1235+3 will rank higher than 255.1234+0 (considering decimal aggregate) if both are SC.

The other way round. In the event of a tie, tie break based on unrounded aggregate score. Hence, 255.1234 will rank higher than 252.4356 +3 (bold are the aggregate score).
