Dd has 7 nett is there any chance of her going into nyjc ?

If she can , is it possible if she appeals to go into translation with cl / hcl : A1/A2 and el : B3 ?
I feel that chances seem slim but dd wants to know what all of you think

Scoring a nett 7 is considered very good liao. Not too sure why NYJC is so well received Jc for the past few years.

Imo, pls try as Especially this year a new Jc emerge and may seen some diversion of applicants into them.

I got 4A1s and 4A2s for o levels.Nett:6(8-2) Im wondering if i can get into nyjc? How many students are nett 6 in jc1 this year

You can put this NYJC as first choice. Still got chance and also consider Eunoia JC as being considered to be on par in my opinion.

I wonder NYJC will continue with their remarkable ascend this year to be on par with NJC/VJC, if it does, it will be really a remarkable achievement no other JC has achieved considering their position a few years ago. May be NYJC is the disruption force to shake up the league table like Leicester FC. I wonder what their secret formula is but I do think they are very savvy in marketing their image.

I personally don’t think Eunoia JC is on par with NYJC considering their lack of track records but their COP might be low considering their only take in 200 as compared to NYJC of 600-700. This beg the question if Eunoia jc cut off is same as NYJC due to it small intake, does it means Eunoia is on par with NYJC, its definitely not.

Whether Eunoia JC going to be on par with Nanyang JC, or with National JC, or with Victoria JC, or not -

Only Time will tell, based on performance of their A level results, first pioneering batch sitting for A level in 2018, since this year (2017) EJC taking in first batch of Year 5 candidates, through JAE exercise, besides the existing pool of current IP students, from the 3 joint secondary schools.

Just the mere Entry Cut off point alone for JAE students (intake of small batch), does not determine the standard of a Junior college. It is the performance of the A level results overall entire cohort, through the quality of their teaching staff, through the quality of their own students, through the quality of the Principal at helm of leadership, year after year, batches after batches, decade after decade, that will speak for itself, to indicate the standard of a Junior college, in the long run.

EJC, has yet to prove herself.
All eyes will be upon the A level results performance turn out, of the first few initial cohort batches. They will be the ones setting the track record, initially.

The Principal of EJC, from ex Serangoon JC, also have to prove herself. The performance of the A level results of the students at EJC, is going to be a mirror reflection of her leadership skill, at EJC. The 3 joint Secondary schools are heavy weight Schools, not ordinary neighbourhood schools.

I understand the principal of NYJC was responsible for this rise. And I did read that he is leaving NYJC or has left. So its a question mark if NYJC can maintain or is just a once time Leicester.

400+ of the students from Eunoia are from 3 top secondary schools in the IP Track. If they were to take the O Levels, I would not be surprised that they would be sub3 or sub 4 pointers, being the top 10% during their PSLE..

You are suggesting that these group of cohort would not be on par or even better than what NYJC is taking in ? Your analysis is just too simplistic

Agreed. It depends very much on the quality of students they can attract. I have a friend’s DD in CHIJ but don’t intend to select Eunoia JC as her choice and its quite common among her class. According to her, Eunoia is just another JC without much connection with CHIJ and she don’t feel it is natural for her to go there….the culture and traditions are not the same…Eunoia is after all a gov jc and majority of students is from a mix of 3 different schools’ of different cultures/traditions.. wonder it’s the same feeling for SCGS/CHS students.

I felt that the quality of student is the most important that determine the performance of a school...by virtues of their psle score, Eunoia standard should be on par with DHS/RV and if they are able to attract good O level student…then they should on par with NJC/VJC..

I do not understand your rationale here. Most if not all JCs here have students from different schools. Your point ?

So what happen to the 400+ from students from CHS/SNGS/SCGS? They are not on par with NJC/VJC ?

Just like to say that DHS is NOT on par with RV but with NJC/VJC based on DHS past years' A level results track record.

Top 5 JCs (unofficial) is RI/HCI/VJ/NJ/DHS.

Well done and congratulations! I believe you stand a high chance entering NYJC because if you were to analyse the cut off points over the years, NYJC seems to improve by 1 point, alternating between the science and arts stream, annually. Do visit their open house, but if you have missed, there should be a special talk with the Principal of NYJC this Saturday. All the best https://www.facebook.com/Nanyangjc/
