I believe this JC will deliver solid A lvl results from 2019. Why wld it not? Its IP cohort is made up of the top 10% in the PSLE cohort.

Coupled with a move to a more central and brand-new campus in the future and a low JAE intake, I believe Eunoia will hv a cutoff of 3/4 pts in the very near future

3/4 pts means on par with RI/HCI but based on past trend and the declining number of cohort year after year, Singapore can only support 2 top JCs with 3/4 (top 1-2%) cut off points which means it will either kick RI/HCI out of the top table.

After A level results come out in 2019, possible to see some new ranking changes, in the current Top 5 JCs : namely RI, HCI, VJC, NJC, DHS.

Which JC will be kicked out of the Top 5 ranking or not, replaced by EJC, time will tell.

I think EJC should just position themselves in attracting the top students from the 3 schools. That, of course, will have some impact to those JCs which have been receiving kids with this range of results but I doubt it’ll be drastic.

But does it matter who is top or top-5? Does a school suddenly becomes worse coz it dropped a (COP) point? Isn’t it all about popularity?

So happening in JC threads nowadays:

          - NYJC ‘kicking’ EJC in its thread and comparing with TJC, DHS and RVHS
          - EJC ‘kicking’ RIJC / HCJC in its thread and comparing with top 5

Why need all these ‘talk big’ and prediction? All these talks without actual results yet are just empty talk. Let the actual results show itself then talk facts!

I don’t think EJC is trying to ‘kick’ RIJI / HCJC or any other JCs in this thread and comparing herself with Top 5. The above discussion was obviously initiated by non-EJC parents. Do ilovekaksa, isetan. UBKmom, phtthp have kids @ EJC ?

@ Non-EJC parents… I think it’s unfair to set such high and unrealistic expectations of a new JC. Please stop making absurd remarks like EJC’s cop being 3-4 points and EJC ‘kicking out’ this JC or that JC. Don’t try to turn EJC forum into another NYJC forum, if that’s on your agenda.

We know that RI / HCI take in mostly GEPpers (top 1% of cohort) and top scorers from Mainstream (top 3% of psle cohort), while CHS/SNGS/SCGS take in top 10% of psle cohort. Who will produce better A Level results ?
(PS : GEPpers & MS top PSLE scorers from CHS(Pri) tend to choose RI over CHS IP).

@ EJC parents… Please don’t get drawn into the above absurd discussion, else EJC will be wrongly accused of ‘talking big’ without actual results / facts (yet).
I really like the casual outfit of the school - black polo with brown bermudas.....really nice

                brown bermudas? not grey?

Sorry. I meant to say dark grey. Really smart looking. Apparently, the girls can choose to wear berms too if they wish
Seems like CHS boys cannot escape the 'fate' of showing off their hairy legs, even after leaving CHS and going on to JC.

I think there is really not much harm for non parent to comment in EJC forum. Their tone so far is not like the "hard selling" posts we have in the NYJC thread.

I may not have a child in EJC but it is one one the college I am narrowing for my kid, so naturally my interest in this thread.

Just for information the COP for St Nicholas at 257 this year is not that far off from RGS at 261…so while it’s good to be humble, give credit when it is deserved

Has anybody DD/DS been selected and called up by MOE for the Humanities Scholarship Interview ? How was it ?

Heard that there were a sizable group from EJC that was selected…

                      I agree with iFirefly.

I am sure there are quite a no. of students from the 3 primary schools (CHS/SNGS/SCGS) who did well for PSLE, and could have gone to any of the Top Sec Schools (RI, RGS, HCI, NYGS) but chose to stay on in their respective Sec schools as they are familiar with them and also becoz they love the culture.

If we go to the MOE website and search under school info, we can see the highest and lowest t-score that got into each of the 3 IP school. The highest t-score are in the 270s ie there are students who did very well and chose to come to these 3 schools.

My DS’s t-score also allowed him to go to all schools except RI, but he chose to go back to CHS for the culture and familiarity, & most importantly the cameraderie. He has classmates who are also 260s.

I am sure the 2 girls school also has similar stories to tell.

So for those who do not have kids going to EJC, please understand that EJC is not trying to compete nor kick others out, but it has enough good students to hold itself up and its main aim is to create & preserve its valuable school culture.

I just want to clarify my position: I am just stating what I observe in the various JC threads, and hoping to discourage such empty talk that draw sparks and cause dissatisfaction. I have no idea whether post comes from EJC or non-EJC parent, and have no intention to offend!

Maybe time to :siam: JC threads now...........
