My ex Biology teacher moved from RI to Eunoia! I think it'll have pretty good teachers too

besides Bio, which other experienced A level subject Teachers, transfer over from RI or from Hwa Chong or National JC (if any), to Eunoia ?

      how about Economics Teacher ?

The Vice-Principal of EJC was the Vice-Principal of VS. When in VJC, he was the pioneer of VIP (now VCA) and was its HOD.
So I believe EJC will be in good hands.
      As a matter of fact,
VS present principal is former vice-principal of RI.
RI present principal is former principal of VJC.
There will probably be some similarities among Eunoia, Victoria and Raffles.

I think the schools should focus on providing a good education to the kids rather than competing to get the most academically inclined kids into their schools.

          jetsetter:

Someone mentioned how VJC rose to become one of our top JCs in the 90s:
          1. Reliable and steady source of quality talent
          2. Strong leadership
          3. Strong support from old boys/girls
          4. Signature/flagship programmes
          5. Good teaching staff
          6. Environment (e.g. newer campus)

          1. In the early years, VJC drew its top talent mainly from DHS and VS. There were also small groups of GEPpers from RI, RGS living in the East joining VJC. Top students living in the East and Northeast also flocked there.

          2. Mrs Lee was formerly the VP of HCJC. She was an old hand in the education business. Rumour had it that she poached a number of HCJC teachers and staff when she went to VJC. Mrs Lee also went round selling koyok at top schools.

          3. From my friends and neighbours, I learnt she personally favoured Dunmanians (SAP) over Victorians (Express). Notwithstanding that favouritism, she was savvy to tap on OVA's connections and leverage VS' brand identity to render VJC an 'aristocratic touch', distinguishing it from TJC... šŸ˜†

          4. From MOE, she got a few signature programmes that TJC didn't have: Theatre Studies, French Elective Programme, Humanities Programme, so that attracted the artsy folks and in turn enhanced the 'elite' status of VJC in the East which btw had a reasonably high population of Eng-educated Peranakans, as well as middle and upper income families.

          5. As mentioned in (2), she brought in good teachers, some from HCJC. Probably got a few expat teachers in due to the Humanities programme and French elective.

          6. VJC had a brand new campus in Marine Parade. TJC campus in Bedok didn't have the wow factor.

Someone also asked why VJC was not able to retain its top spot for long? It's because Factor (1) was changed after 2007. It lost its DHS talent pool. The rest of the ad hoc toppers had their own IPJCs to flock to.

EJC can take a leaf from VJC in the 90s...

EJC P should sell koyok to other potential toppers from the zone or living along the TEL/CCL to fill the remaining vacancies. MSHS, PLMGS, SAS, CCHM, IJTP and AHS offer potential JAE entrants.

EJC as an IPJC may not be in the same league as those top 4 IPJCs/NUSH with SBGE for obvious reasons: academic-wise or fees-wise...

But it's probably pitched at the same level as NJC (West) and VJC (East). EJC is in the Central district. Currently, there appears to be a missing puzzle or rather, IPJC choice for those with 5-7 points, in Central district. (Psst: You know how obsessed our Govt is with urban-planning and equal distribution of facilities, including institutions offering diff progs? šŸ˜† )

All in all, more choices for all lah. :rahrah:
VJC was top JC in 1988, 1995 and 2005. There were also years when VJC was second to RJC or HCJC.
I think EJC need to be in the Marymount campus first, when the non-IP students of the 3 feeder schools and the top students from central region choosing it (as there are many good schools in central region).

SBGE is probably more relevant during the pre IP days to differentiate the more academically gifted from the rest as they would still end up taking the O level.

With the intro of the IP, the schools are already doing it differently, short of calling it SBGE.
I share the same opinion as you.

              UBKmom:

3/4 pts means on par with RI/HCI but based on past trend and the declining number of cohort year after year, Singapore can only support 2 top JCs with 3/4 (top 1-2%) cut off points which means it will either kick RI/HCI out of the top table.
Wonder if the declining number of cohort every year has affected the number of student intake of the JCs.

Does it mean that in future the COP for all these 3 sec schools will be even higher ? Since the COP entry will be at 3/4 pts.

Personally believe the COP will increase.
But NYGH and RGS still will be top 2 COP.

Believe many JCs COP will go up this year because of the emergence of EJC!!

                  phtthp:

After A level results come out in 2019, possible to see some new ranking changes, in the current Top 5 JCs : namely RI, HCI, VJC, NJC, DHS.

Which JC will be kicked out of the Top 5 ranking or not, replaced by EJC, time will tell.
These 5 are the top JCs in terms of A level results. However, DHS does not have COP at JC level as there is no intake.
If there is one that may be out of top 5, it could be NJC. I see similarities between NJC and TJC.
Both have a bigger neighboring rival (HCI for NJC, VJC for TJC).
Both do not have feeder schools although they have their own intake of IP students at Year 1.
VJC is more similar to RI and HCI eg the emphasis on sports. VJC is also very strong in performing arts.
Eunoia may also be more in this group (Raffles, Hwa Chong and Victoria).
National is more similar to Temasek,

People don't scrutinize punctuation to find faults, they scrutinize punctuation to detect the tone of the message.
Was just trying to explain why some my find your message harsh...did not mean it any other ways.
