Poor thing, maybe because your DD is in a SAP school? How about doing some Chinese assessment books like 画龙点睛or每日精练？ The Chinese characters will appear again and again which makes it easier to learn 听写. Learning 听写 alone can be very dry.
talking about 听写, find it hard to cope : because school already have weekly (听写 + moxie).
then, Chinese tuition centre also have another set of weekly ( 听写 + moxie)
end up : whole week revolving around ( 听写 + moxie) ==> kid no time to do revision
and moxie so wordy, so long, so many chim character to remember
On average, my children will take around 2hrs (usually spread over 2 days) to learn school 听写、 默写 and 30 mins to learn TH's . Don't spend all your time and energy on 听写、 默写! Cannot get 100 marks also never mind, must spare some time for the rest of the subjects. -

[/quote]Inside your daughter's report card dug out, besides showing the weightage for P4 SA(1 & 2), does it also show last year's (2016) entire P3 cohort performance : the average (mean) score of cohort, highest score(s) of cohort level plus standard deviation, per subject, for EMS & Chinese ?
My kid's report card show all detail. Form Tr pasted one Summary sheet of level performance, inside Report card. Then, u know whether kid is within, or outside cohort average, in her own school.
(But, some schools don't disclose) -

we have that phtthp..I was referring to that pc pf paper more didnt look at the report book closely. so I have looked at the wrong marks. should look at the weighted one

note that every school has different sequence , for P4 Science SA1.
DD has been having CA1 exam since P2. This year in P4, CA1 is only 10% of overall. The one that can really makes a difference to the overall marks is SA2 exam which an be as much as 50%.
P4 is a very important year because the Chinese words taught at these level will be tested in PSLE too.
Therefore, must ensure your child is taking 听写 learning very seriously.
Maths concepts is based on what was taught last year as well as new topics this year. Science has to do really well in P3, otherwise if your child in P4, has to relearn back the p3 topics and still cope with new Science topics, gonna be tough on the child. English-make sure your child READS everyday.

Lastly, it is up to the child and parents on what approach they want to adopt in order to help the child cope.
Just encourage your child to do the best that he/she can be and accept the marks and move on.
have to go through what topics are to be tested, in own school.
eg:
some schools don't test \"Light\" (a new P4 Physics abstract topic), while other schools do include testing \"Light\", in SA1.
\"Heat\" will be tested, under SA2. -
Life cycles topics learnt in P3, and Magnets topics learnt in P4. Some schools teach different chapters at different levels.

just managed to print out some past year CA1 papers for dd to try. Surprises now better than near SA1

CA1 answer scripts were returned this week, for each of the 4 subjects (English, Maths, Science Chinese) : for students in schools who had taken CA1 exam.
next week : is week 10, the last week of P4 Term 1.
for some schools, there is a Parents Meet Tr session, next week.
can ask your subject Tr, all the burning questions that you’ve (if any), during Parents Meet Tr session -

Schools to refine DSA selection from 2017, to focus on identifying students with specific talents , and move away from recognising strong general academic abilities
As part of this refinement, schools will discontinue the use of general academic ability tests in Direct School Admission (DSA) selection by 2018, said Education Minister Ng Chee Meng.
Starting from 2018, MOE will also expand the number of DSA places so that all secondary schools can admit up to 20 per cent of their Secondary 1, non-Integrated Programme intake via DSA.
However, article also mentioned that specific talent, ie. specific Academic subject : will still remain .
That means, Secondary schools like RGS (for example), that allow DSA entry by SPECIFIC Academic subject Domain (can be English, Maths, Science) -
will still remain.
which batch of children will be hit, by these new changes of DSA requirement(s), starting from PSLE 2018, onwards ?
will be children, born in Y2006 (zodiac Year of Dog), onwards : including our golden Piggies, born in Y2007 too, etc
ie. hit current 2017 (Primary 5 students, P4 students, etc), onwards.
