You can check out some of the hotels on https://www.agoda.com/partners/partnersearch.aspx?cid=1780351&pcs=1&hl=en&city=9590 or http://www.booking.com/searchresults.html?city=-240905&aid=1291240&no_rooms=1&group_adults=1 to compare prices as well as availability. If you prefer chain hotels, I normally use http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-8360644-12026127 as their prices are usually reasonable, especially when you book early. There are also special deals available to members of IHG.
...
but now stress over planning itinerary and checking on transport, hotels etc...
we flying in to tokyo, so not sure how to go hotel from osaka airport..
but we flying back from osaka, so also need check how to go kansai airport from hotel..

Hi Smurfy,
Your schedule is very similar to mine. I am flying to Tokyo and departing from Osaka as well. Will be spending 14 days. Currently, only decided on Disney and USJ in Osaka. Rest of the itinerary is still largely work in progress.
We are considering if we should book Airbnb since we are a family of 5 (2A+3C). Haven’t had any experience with Airbnb. Anyone has any experience to share about the Airbnb in Tokyo? But one thing I realized is that their check-in time are usually very late. I am reaching Tokyo Haneda airport in the early morning at 6+am. Not sure what to do with my luggage prior to check-in if I stay in Airbnb. For hotels, we could usually leave it with them prior to check-in.
Can I check what services do you use to send the luggage from one hotel to another? -

Hi, Hercules, thanks a lot for your detailed sharing..Hi cool_hi
If you are going to snow monkey, you may wanna look at booking this ryokan place:
http://eihachi.com/english.html
Last year I went in a group of 9 pax in late December and stayed 3 nights there with 1 day to see snow monkey and 2 days skiing (ski place nearby).
We were lucky to have heavy snow during our visit (since the purposes were to see the snow monkeys and to ski and so snowfall volume was important)
Add:
This little hotel is good for Tokyo stay(small but clean and neat) if you don't fancy to stay around Orchard-belt kind of 5-star hotels. If those Disneyland hotels are expensive, you may actually stay out of that expensive area as your kids are not really so 'small' and can afford a bit of travelling in train.
https://www.agoda.com/suidobashi-grand-hotel/hotel/tokyo-jp.html?adults=2&rooms=1&cid=1744321&tag=f8eb3e6a-c930-1223-8994-271892c15885&searchrequestid=533cc470-4d06-43ff-8849-98ca3abdad54
Remark: Think there are 2 or more Suidobashi hotels and so if you wanna try, make sure you book the correct one at Hongo, Bunkyo-ku.
Its an about 5 min walk to train station (red line Kurakuen Station. Above the station, there is a big Daiso),
next to a 3 or 4 storey 24-hr Donki (http://www.donki.com/en/)
opposite Tokyo Dome theme park (https://www.tokyo-dome.co.jp/e/),
opposite Laqua Shopping Mall with a reasonable priced and good onzen / spa (http://www.laqua.jp/pages/en/spa.html).
You will have enough things to do whenever you are back in the hotel and while your kids are resting (provided you still have the energy).
From this hotel location to go to national heritage, Ameyoko market (http://www.ameyoko.net/map/), you can cab there at about 1,000+ yen (can also take a train there but then since you have 4 pax, it is more worthwhile to cab). Asakusa is also only a few train stations away. If you only have time to visit one of these, I will choose Ameyoko market over Asakusa. I will rank Ameyoko above Tsukiji fish market.
Have fun!
would like to go snow monkey park & stay at the ryokan but our trip is end nov-early dec..
i check & should not snow yet, thus thought should go next time if can travel mid/late dec:)
coz i think winter with snowing is nicer? anyone went in late nov-early dec before??
for the hotel, i did check, but hubby prefers a hotel with airport limousine stops as it's our 1st time going f&e
to japan..(used to follow tour groups)& also we taking night flight, reach tokyo early morning,
so it's tiring for the kids to take train & need to search & walk to hotel... BUTnext trips will want to try this hotel u recommend:)
coz at least by then, we should be more confident in taking thier trains!! haha
