phase 2C is for kids who have no links to the school. with the fall in birth rates, some schools have reduced classes. PV is no guarantee even after 60-80 hours. so do choose your first choice carefully or you'll get balloted out and have to register under 2Cs.

using parents or siblings address would require you to make a statutory declaration. However, with an SD, you would be grouped in the 1-2km group even if parents are staying within 1km from the school. Besides registration would require you and husband to produce original NRIC showing your actual place of residence.

unless you and hubby move to your parents' place to stay, and you would have to do so for next 30 months, then you can consider nan chiau and register within 1km.

Some schools website will post about their niche CCA achievements etc. But unless your child is already a top musician or top specialized sportsman at age 5-6, I doubt that matters at all. The school may offer some cute interesting CCAs. Maybe ukulele or fencing. No guarantee that any child can join that CCA. And no guarantee that taking part in that CCA, he will be good enough to win some competitions. I'd rather spend my own savings on some external lessons if for example my boy shows particular potential in Chess or competitive swimming.

when registering kids for p1, parents have to know whether their kids’ characters can fit into an academic driven school (eg SAP ones). parents now have to do their part in coaching too…cannot leave everything to the teachers. during PTMs, teachers in some schools will tell parents to ‘do your part’.

principals are rotated every 7 years or so. with younger principals now, they are very competitive too.
some schools tell you holistic but not always the case.

I am currently staying in Punggol but wondering if I should move to Bedok as my Mom (caregiver) stays in Bedok. Which location would be more competitive for phase 2C?

It depends on which school you are eyeing, but generally you would have a better chance in Bedok compared to Punggol as there are many young families in Punggol.

If you register in Bedok, will you be changing your IC or asking your mom to declare? Please note that declaration will put you into 1-2 km bucket no matter how near your mom house to the school.
