        Hi manifits,
As the class exercises and tests will be mainly on passage-based comprehensions, the sparknotes / cliffnotes will more than suffice. Your boy just needs to take down notes in class and go through the text at home. Also, they will not cover the entire book.

May I find out how does the boy with avg score of normal chinese (in primary school) cope in HCI? If the boy cant manage the higher chinese, can he opt to take normal chinese instead?

As far as I know, HCI doesn’t offer normal chinese. All their boys do HCL.

              Ah Higher Chinese...

Personally I feel there's no harm in learning Higher Chinese. All the teachers have plenty of experience, and are capable of assisting any student to cope with Higher Chinese. So long as one is attentive during lessons, there shouldn't be a problem in the long run. One of the advantages of taking Higher Chinese in High School includes being able to opt out of Higher Chinese in JC (provided a B4 grade or better is attained), which helps to save a lot of time in JC.

In other words, there's no need to fear not being able to cope with Higher Chinese, so don't let it be a barrier!

The school encourages the boys to read LHZB and the bi-weekly chinese magazine regularly. These are very informative and will guide the boys in writing prose and reflections. Also, it would be helpful if your boy watches the current affairs programmes on Channel 8 too.

End August. One of the few schools that conducted their trials and interviews earlier. Just wait for the result.

Hi, does anyone know what is the DSA intake number for this year, and roughly how many for each domain?
