2017 P1 Registration Exercise for 2018 In-Take
-
There are so many schools with more than 100 vacancies having to ballot for SC under 1km in 2C!! Schools like West Spring is conducting ballot for 132 places all within 1km for SC, Westwood 119 places, Horizon primary 117, Mee Toh 119, Punggol green 167, Rivervale 124, Seng Kang green 102, Riverside 107... Not only will the balloting take so long but how nerve wrecking it will be

The competition at Phase 2C is much more intense as we have anticipated. What is notable is that the number of schools with parents having to ballot under 1km is almost double that of the previous year!
Parents are now much smarter and are moving nearer to the schools just to have a chance to ballot.

This year the outcome is ridiculous! So many schools within 1km need to ballot. How much more next year the Dragon year???!

ChiefKiasu:
I don't think it's necessary the case that parents are moving nearer to the schools just to have a chance to ballot. If you dive deeper, there are several schools that are within close proximity: only 1 or 2 schools will be balloting, whereas the others are totally ignored. The competition at Phase 2C is much more intense as we have anticipated. This exercise is a good example of a zero sum game theory in play. If you move to a 2nd choice school early, you lose (miss out on the preferred school). However, as long as everyone chooses the same school, no one loses out. So in previous years where there will be movement by the not-so-brave to other schools, these year every one stays put.
Guess every school is a good school mantra isn't working at all

So does it mean I have to report for duty earlier next year? :yikes:The competition at Phase 2C is much more intense as we have anticipated. What is notable is that the number of schools with parents having to ballot under 1km is almost double that of the previous year!

Anyway this year some places have more vacancies so when hope is involved, it's becomes marginal between balloting and not balloting, decided like last 10-15mins.
Perhaps next year's increase competition will mean moving along when there is no choice but to do so. -
Hi All!
Unfortunately we fell into the balloting group for those <1km. Registered for FMPS under 2C.
Called the school, was told that 40 SC are balloting for 34 places.
Any advice if there is an appeal channel available for parents wish to appeal if the balloting is unsuccessful?
TIA! -

Your odds are not too bad leh. Many times more winners than losers. The ballot is final. The only thing you can do is to add yourself to the school's wait list. That route does work occasionally.Hi All!

So what's next if we are really the unlucky one who didnt get in. Wait for 2C supplementary phase on the school (2nd choice)? -

How will parents know the balloting results for phase 2c?
