1. register 2A for my child for RGPS when we are in 2019
2. start to prepare and write in PV for schools near my hse. Pei Chun, Marymount, CHIJ.
3. If CHIJ does not accept PV, we should still do step 1 above and turn up at CHIJ to monitor our chances for 2C. If we can get in via 2C to CHIJ, we drop 2A RGPS. Can we do this?

3. If the chances are good (which means a chance to ballot < 2km), you will have to withdraw first, before applying in CHIJ TP. If you don't get in to CHIJ TP, i.e. did not succeed in the ballot, you will also lose your place in RGPS and you will have to look for a backup in Phase 2Cs.

Hope i am making sense as there are pieces of information you posted here and there.

For your current place, do consider St Margaret as its considerably nearer for logistics. - some years may need balloting, some years don't need at 2C

For CHIJ TPY and PCP within 1-2km - i would think it not worth withdrawing from RGPS to ballot at 2C. (please check if you are within 1km of any of the schools)
For Marymount, you should not need balloting, so its about choosing between RGPS and Marymount

Yes. It all depends on the past stats which the secondary schools will have. They know how many students each yearly intake. And they know what T scores those students had. Work backwards from there and they will know 80% quota what's the COP. Parents of the 2019 PSLE batch, which is the first batch affected, do not have access to the new anticipated COP. So they gotta pressure the schools to release the info. Otherwise how to make informed choice?

Students born in 2007 (piggy) : are the pioneering batch sitting for PSLE 2019, affected by this new MOE implementation movement, "80% reserved for Sec 1 entry, through Affliation".

This batch of students are currently in 2017 P4, now. Parents of these students must hold internal meeting with their school Principal, find out what is a safe T-score, to fall within 80%.

The affiliation 80% Cut-off-point, varies from school to school : depending on how popular, the Secondary Affliated school is. Depend on the demand of primary school P6 students, who desire to go back to their Affliated Secondary school, to study "O" level.

If demand is poor, then this 80% cut-off-point hold little impact, to that Secondary school.

Thanks, I did not think of St Margaret, which is also quite near me and has affiliation, but on one map its over 2km from my hse. But Vacancy for Phase 2C is 105, take up 81. I am unsure if over 2km I will have any chance. my postal code is 329023

Time is on your side as your started early. dont think you are in the correct year thread.

Collect your thoughts first and weigh your preference.
Distance versus schools.

Without moving from your current place:
2A you have selected.
For PCP, need to be under 2B so PV is one option.
Under 2C you can look at Marymount (no balloting for SC since 2007), St Margaret (all SCs went in since 2014), Geylang Methodist (all SCs went in since 2012). Hong wen is near your place but i would not recommend if need to ballot.

The thing is this, see if you prefer any of the above schools over your 2A choice. Birth rate of 2014 or 2015 is actually quite near to dragon year. I would still think there is a fair good chance to enter under 2C either of the 3 without balloting, you can always stick to your 2A if there is a need for balloting.

If there is a preference of any schools under 2C, be a PV and move yourself to 2B. Hong wen will be one of your options as well.

If you are within 2km of CHIJ TPY, the other way to fall under 2B is via the GRL route which i am not familiar with.

Hi! I’m staying at Redhill Close and thinking to enrol my gal into either a Christian school with secondary school affiliation i.e. Fairfield Methodist but it is >2 km away from my house. I am a church member but not sure if I could get a place for my gal in phase 2B. If not, Alexandra Primary School will be the other option that is <1 km but it doesn’t have any secondary school affiliation. Would appreciate if anyone can advise which one that I should go for to secure the place for my gal? Any review on those 2 schools? Many thanks in advance!

If you do not have a younger boy, I would suggest choosing Paya Lebar MGS in Hougang unless the school bus timing is too early for you. It is a good Christian girls school with secondary and JC affiliation, and almost confirmed can get in at phase 2B.

If u prefer a nearer girls school with affiliation, can consider CHIJ Kellock but it is Catholic not Protestant.

I called Alexandra PS and they told me that there are no PV and no open house. So, it will be difficult to get in with all the new flats building near the school! Sigh!
