just wondering...
anyone knows whether there are any CO for MGS & SCGS, through Dance??
& roughly how many offered??
thanks in advance..
personally my dd noes 2 girls from SOTA audition who has COs for SCGS, both are giving up SCGS COs for other schools as SCGS for dance is mainly for 4 years and they have offers for 6 years in even better schools. My dd did not apply for SCGS though just sharing here. wat I understand SCGS is not as popular as 1st tier popular schs like the RGS and NYGH and MGS and specialized dance program sch and usu used as a backup. So if I am assuming if one has either MGS 4 years CO or SCGS CO, most will choose MGS which still got chance to convert to IP based on results. If recieve MGS IP CO vs SCGS CO, usu most will be in favor of MGS. How many rec'd CO for dance heard also not a lot but a lot of WLs for dance as suspecting most are using SCGS as a backup. Usu ppl will choose SOTA, MGS, NYGH if using dance DSA. -
Asking for a fren - wat is the chances of SOTA WL converting in to CO? Are there incidents of WL for SOTA not getting in SOTA on PSLE release day?
My fren kid has a CO for DHS but her dd wants to give that up to try waiting for SOTA WL. Risky a not?? -
DS2 received a CO thru soccer from sec sch A (offering both express and normal streams). In the offer letter, it mentioned ‘With this Confirmed Offer, a place has been reserved for you in the school, provided you indicate the school as one of your preferences during the Exercise School Preference Stage from 30 Oct to 3 Nov 2017. However, you must still be eligible to attend a course offered in our school based on your PSLE results*.’ with footnote * i.e. the Express, Normal (A), Normal (T) courses.
Does it mean that the place is confirmed, depending on DS’s result to see which stream he will be posted to, i.e. Express or Normal?
Sorry for the noob question because I always had the impression that PSLE must score at least 200 point to meet the DSA criteria. Or this 200 points min is only applicable for DSA via academic route?
TIA! -

You are unable to switch from O level track to IP track regardless of result if you got in the sch via DSA (even in dual track sec sch). This was what parents were told during DS1's orientation last year (he is in a dual track sec sch).cool_hi:

My DD1 knows at least 10 girls who applied to SCGS through DSA Dance but only 2 were called up for interview. Whether that 2 girls received CO or not, she has no idea. -

Can always put SOTA WL as first choice and DHS CO as second choice so in the event not successful for SOTA WL can still get the DHS COAsking for a fren - wat is the chances of SOTA WL converting in to CO? Are there incidents of WL for SOTA not getting in SOTA on PSLE release day?

I think if your son got below 188, would go to the Normal stream of the CO school, anything above should be able to qualify for the Express stream of the CO school.DS2 received a CO thru soccer from sec sch A (offering both express and normal streams). This was what parents were told during DS1's orientation last year (he is in a dual track sec sch).[/quote]Those of you who received 4 years DSA CO from either SCGS / MGS dual-track schools, do consider very carefully.
Once you accept the DSA for 4 years, you are locking yourself into a contract with MOE, for 4 years ahead. In other words, you will be stuck there, for 4 years.
Suppose after PSLE results come out in early December 2017 & yr daughter realize that she actually perform well enough to enter into either 6 years SCGS (IP) track direct express into Eunoia JC from year 5, or well enough into 6 years MGS (IB) track direct express into ACSI from year 5, MOE Will NOT allow you to switch over from 4 years DSA accepted offer, into 6 years course, via T-score.
So, pls consider very carefully, before signing your commitment for 4 years, by accepting DSA offer from MOE. You are expected to honor the commitment of your 4 years contract signed. Once you sign, means you are agreeing to all the underlying Terms & Condition, attached.
MOE will tell you that the only time u are allowed to change, in the dual-track school, is :
At end of year 2, those who do very well in SCGS (O level) / MGS (O level) , then got chance to transfer over into SCGS (IP) / MGS (IB) on a case-by case basis, respectively. Yes, they let u change, because u do well, ar end of Sec 2.
Read the Terms & Condition carefully, before sign anything
