How does one know won’t be penalized, if don’t put in comma appropriately ?

Is there any PSLE English rule, that state or document this :
Is it True that "No need any comma, won’t be penalized. Comma is optional " ?

        Check this out.

The other synthesis qn that parents might need to know is that for the BUT question, you won't be penalised for not using the comma too.

        Same with
        Who whom whose.

Do check with your DD DS el teachers and Hod. It is one of the most commonly asked questions.

Will you get lesser marks if you have written lesser words for compo? Are 203 words too less?

There was a question that goes like this,

She wanted to (move away) but.....
            1) exit
            2) retreat
            3) relocate
            4) vacate

What do you think is the correct answer?

            Synthesis and transformation

The cat feared the thunder. It hid under the sofa.
            Out of_________________________.

The author's book had won an award. Mr Hamid invited the author to give a talk.

            ______________________whose____________________

Yes, you MUST use the article \"the\". You can't take away info from the given sentence. 😄

Arun had not washed clothes before. He made a mess out of it.

Not having washed clothes before, Arun made a mess out of it.

                  Possible pitfalls are
                  1. Students mistake this as a NOT ONLY, BuT ALSO qn.
                  2. Students forgot to write the name Arun in the second part of the question.

And yes, u need a comma for this sentence. 😂

Is SW formal or informal? I heard it is written to a cousin. Is it correct?

If my child had written formal instead of informal, will she get penalized?

My understanding is that you use two commas or none.
                      Both structures are acceptable.

                        It is an informal email.

The difference is in the tone. You would write in a friendlier manner to your cousin than to an event organiser, for example.

Some teachers split hairs over the signing off... (Yours sincerely/faithfully, regards...etc)

That is one of the differences between the 2 kinds.

Also, for a formal letter, granted that the recipient does not know who you are, you should mention it somewhere. If your child hasn't written that, then it might still sound like an informal letter? Lol

There are still content marks based on the qns. So, do not worry too much about it.

It takes up 15 outta the total 55 marks of paper 1
