Hi everyone, I am looking for a primary school for my daughter which is not stressful and focus on holistic approach and not just academic results. It is not important the SAP or PSLE results. In the Marine Parade area or in Central I am new to this process but I heard there is a list of holistic school from MOE which focus less on academic results. Where can I find more info about that ? thanks for your guidance

That will include almost all schools minus only a bunch of \"top\" schools...

The CHIJ convent schools are generally more holistic. Or you can consider Bukit Timah Primary, Queenstown Primary, I heard these are quite holistic too. Sorry I don't know much about other schools.

You might wish to also check out the respective school websites by the planning area
              https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/information-on-primary-schools/listing-by-planning-area
shortlist them and also compare them via http://sis.moe.gov.sg/

In Marine Parade area, I hear from friends that Ngee Ann is a good choice, good balance between academics and holistic development.

Hi everyone, will be going through the Pri 1 registration next year. My preference is CHS and will be moving to Bishan to fall within 1km, but I’m not sure if it is still risky. A backup plan is to use grandparents’ address for SJIJ (their address is 1-2km). We are Catholics so I presume we will fall in phase 2B for both schools. May I know:

                  1. based on past stats, is SJIJ 1-2km safer than CHS <1km?
                  2. do we still qualify for phase 2B if using grandparents’ address?
                  3. If I were to apply to CHS and if it seems like it is oversubscribed, can I still change to SJIJ by applying using a different address for phase 2B?

Thank you so much for your time.

Hi, based on past stats, CHS always requires balloting for <1km for phase 2B. (The only aberration was for the Tiger year babies, where there were fewer boys) The qn is, what is your risk appetite? Consider that Dragon year batch is expected to have more boys than usual.

SJIJ, on the other hand, should be relatively safe. The balloting history for 2B has always been for >2km. I hope u know that u need to make a statutory declaration in order to use grandparents address.

Hi zac’s mum, thank you so much for taking time to reply and share advice. Will read up on the stats but may I know if using SD allows me to remain in phase 2B? I know the distance will be downgraded but we are already in 1-2km anyway and I dont think we will be further downgraded to >2km?

No worries. Yes u will be in phase 2B by virtue of your Catholic status. And the SD will not change your distance category since it's already 1-2km.
