Thank you very much! Can someone kindly advise on the rules relating to school shoes? Any specific colour or rules?

The boys can wear white, black, grey shoes with little or no brightly coloured trimmings.

              Dear parents

My son is in this year DSA waiting list and we very much want him to study at Hwa Chong. But after attending the Sec 1 Posting briefing session, my son said he’s now quite reluctant because his Primary School’s principal and a teacher said everyone in HC use Chinese everywhere at all time and they even dream in Chinese. Though we are non-Chinese family, my son studies higher Chinese and is doing quite well so far.
So, kindly advise how much is correct what he heard from his school because we believe he can fulfill his potential by studying at HC.

I was not strong in Chinese, and was from a mission primary school (PSLE chinese always below national average), and later went to a SAP secondary school.

I’ve shared previously that I either failed, or was close to failing Chinese in Sec 1 and 2. It wasn’t easy. However, by Sec 3 when we took the O level examinations, I scored an A1. I didn’t score an A1 at Sec 4 Higher Chinese, but I retook it in the form of AO Chinese at JC1, and scored an A1.

I don’t think Higher Chinese is insurmountable. My family did not speak Mandarin at all - my dad did Malay in school. However, with immersion in a SAP school, you do pick the language up. I’m grateful that I am able to navigate taobao, wechat in Chinese, and watch China drama serials etc, because of my SAP school education.

                      Hahaha, Not True at all!
My son was from a SAP primary Sch which really use Chinese all the time!
BUT, this is not the case in HCI. To me, it is just like any other English school except that there is more exposure to Chinese culture & Lang.

Atan is correct! My son uses English with friends everyday, and spot on, more exposure to Chinese culture & Lang
