* Eunoia JC (EJC)

Thanks @weirddad
The crux is whether EJC will turn out to be good JC or not , if DD does IP there , no reason for her to change unless it doesn’t seem to be good JC ya? And there’s no batch of A level results to gauge yet … hence was hoping to understand from parents of DC in / going to EJC

Looking at the increasing COP of TJC(IP) from the past… and till now holding on to 9 pts.
At the same time looking at the start COP for new JC like Eunoia(IP) also @ 9 pts
It seem that a single digit of 9 pts is the minimum requirement for IPJCs for both arts & science
Wonder whether there is a possibility an IPJC will end up with double digit (eg. 10 pts) in the near future
Just curious -
NotEducatedMan:
It's possible for IPJCs to hit double digit COP as it is the forces of demand and supply, it may be unlikely but it is possible, especially so when MOE has given the direction that all schools will see an increase in places, meaning there will be higher supply, so I am not surprised if TJC or EJC hit double digits.Looking at the increasing COP of TJC(IP) from the past.. and till now holding on to 9 pts.

It is possible to hit double-digit entry point, for some IP JCs, especially after MOE had shut down some other JCs, or merged them.
As for Eunoia JC, she probably need a few more years, to stabilize or confirm her standing, in terms of GCE "A" level results’ performance. -

It is understandable there are SCGS girls that don't want to go EJC coz SCGS girls likely stay near SCGS, and coming to Bishan is quite far for them.Hihi as DD considering choices now post psle , anyone can share what made you or DC decide on SCGS IP/EJC ? I've heard SCGS is good school but there are girls who opt to drop out of SCGS IP to go SCGS O level because they don't want to go EJC ... EJC is understandably new unknown and unproven ..
Thanks
I've not heard of CHS or SNGS students switching from IP to O level due to not wanting to go EJC. Coz likely majority stay near their Secondary schools, which is also near EJC. -

Hard to compare TJC with EJC.

Due to various factors:
(when reading below post, when I say TJC, I am referring to the JC itself ie year 5,6. When I say TJC-IP, I am referring to the Secondary 1 IP programme)
1) TJC has a very old campus. EJC will have a new, state of the art campus based on modern architecture with high technological facilities.
2) TJC depends on its Secondary 1 intake to TJC-IP itself which is a small cohort. EJC has 3 schools of around 150 students each, ie total of around 450 feeding into it.
3) TJC-IP Secondary 1 intake itself may not attract that many applicants due to its old campus and perhaps not so strong school history and alumni. CHS, SNGS, SCGS are schools with long history, strong alumni, good programmes which attract applicants every year and hence higher chances to attract good students.
4) TJC has to compete with other very good schools near it eg Dunman High, Victoria School, even pure O level schools eg TKSS, and unless the students stay very near TJC and did not want to travel, or can't get into Dunman or Victoria, otherwise TJC is usually not the 1st choice. CHS, SNGS, SCGS are schools which are popular by themselves and students aspire to go there.
5) As mentioned above in 2), TJC-IP is a very small cohort, which feeds into TJC. TJC intake is around 700, so there are many vacancies left for O level JAE applicants, hence with more applicants, the last person that got in is likely to have a big L1R5 score such as 9.
EJC intake is around 650, after taking the 450 from the 3 IP feeder schools, only left about 200 vacancies for O level JAE applicants so likely the last person's L1R5 score will be a smaller no. compared with TJC's. EJC cop is likely to improve after it moves to its permanent campus. -

Any facts to substantiate your assertion or you are just trying to put down EJC again ? -

No bone to pick, just curious on your scientific analysis that \"you would not be suprised that EJC hit double digits\".
