                  November 2017 IBDP Exam Results

                  Published on : 2018-01-05

444 Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) students received their results for the November 2017 International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Examination at noon on 5 January 2018 in school.

The school’s average total score was 41.62 points (2016: 41.82) with 100% of the cohort being awarded their diplomas.

27 students achieved the perfect score of 45 points. The percentage of students who achieved 40 to 45 points was 84.7% and this is the best performance since the school’s implementation of the IBDP in 2006.

                  IB Class of 2017

The Class of 2017 comprises many talents, with a number of them representing Singapore in international competitions. In the SEA Games and the Asean Para Games held in August and September respectively, Dylan Koo Longhai (6.13) ranked 4th in the Men’s 100m Butterfly and Mark Leong Kok Loong (6.07) retained his Gold medal in the Men’s slalom. In the APG, Toh Wei Soong (6.08) won 2 Golds and 1 Silver, setting two new meet records with his Gold events.

Apart from sports, Lee Xiong Jie, Isaac (6.01) captained the ACS (Independent) team which represented Singapore in the FIRST Global international robotics challenge in July. The team won Silver in the 163 nations “Olympics”-style robotics challenge.

In innovation and technology, Mantej Singh (6.10) has combined his talent and passion with compassion to develop several prototypes that seek to improve the lives of others. Mantej was selected to participate in the 2016 MIT Launch Summer Programme, an event that brings together high school students from all over the world to start a company in teams. Together with three other like-minded student entrepreneurs, the group developed Lyfeband, a wearable device that measures an infant’s body vitals, allowing early detection by parents in case of anomalies. He also invented Lumni(Fe), which is a novel method to detect colon cancer in its early stages. Lumni(Fe) was showcased in the Final Round of the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) in 2017 and won the first prize in the 2016 ACS (Independent) innovation competition.

Principal, Winston Hodge congratulated the students on their results. He said, “The 2017 cohort of IB students has continued the strong academic performance of the school. Beyond their academic results, they will be fondly remembered for their generosity of spirit, their positive contributions to the school family and their conviction and confidence to make things happen. The school family wishes all of them our very best in their life journey.”

‘Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.’ Psalm 126:5

Much sowing has been done by our students, teachers, and indeed the wider ACS (Independent) community who have faithfully supported our school over the years.

We are grateful to the Board of Governors, the Board of Management, the ACSOBA, the Methodist Church, MOE, parents and all our well-wishers for their advice, support and encouragement.

Above all, we are grateful to God from whom all blessings flow.
