All About Parent Volunteers (PV)
-
Hi Mom2boys
I stay nearer to Xin Min (less than 1 km). Hougang Pri is very popular but again will need to ballot.
Although I do not mind my gals going to a neighbourhood school, I do want them to go to a reputable one.
Well, I think itโs time to made up my mind. All this worrying is too stressful. Just enrol under Phase 2A2 rather than go through the agony of balloting. In any case, I am prepared to request for a transfer should I feel she is not coping later on. -
Hi All,
Anyway I had submitted the PV forms to the schools. The only thing now is just to wait or should I always enquire about the status? Most of the applications on PV would be close in
Some schools said they would conduct interview in end of June while others said Aug 08 or Dec 08. Some allow you to perform the PV in 2009 onwards. -
Hello
I am new here, like to find out from all the experienced parent how to go for PV for my child born 2004. Is it a bit early?
I used to stay in Jurong west with my mom, near Rulang <1km, but shifted to Choa Chu Kang 5 yrs ago. And I have change my address to CCK. Any chance if I can still used my mom address to register my child to rulang, if I am willing to sacrify my time for PV? Anyone know which period of time rulang open for PV registration?
Really appreciate your advise. -

------------------
Children who are currently under full time care of foster parents may register for admission using the address of the foster parents provided:
* both parents are working full-time at the time the statutory declaration was made
* the foster parent is a grandparent of the child or a sibling of either of the parents and the foster parent is not employed.
Children who are registered using a foster parentโs address and residing within 1 km of the school of choice will not be balloted together with other children residing within 1 km of their school of choice. Instead they will be balloted together with children residing between1-2 km of the school of choice.
-----------------------------
so besides checking that you fulfil the above requirements, you also have to check if for Phase 2B (which is the phase of registration for volunteers), if there is balloting for those residing between 1-2km of rulang. you can always call up the school, 2 year in advance of your year of registration for the pv details. -
Thank you jedamum for your info โฆ
Rulang is a good school so not sure if they accept PV under phase2B? Need to give the school a call to check up.
Anyone any idea when rulang open for PV application? -
mom2boys,
Hougang is kind of far from jurong, so not sure if this is can be your long term solution ! -
Can working parents do PV?
Can any good souls share with me? -
fredia_phionna,
I attended a briefing for PV at West Grove. When the principal asked how many parents are working, almost all the parents there raised up their hands
The school gave us a list of duties available. Gate duties start at 6:55am - 7:25am. So I guess working parents can only take gate duties. They normally take 2 times a week, so they will finish 40 hours after 40 weeks. They can also take leave to help out at those full day events like racial harmony day. -
mom2boys:
hi to all parents who child is born in 2004. : - ) My elder daughter is born in that year too. Based on my info, 2004 birth population is the smallest during the 2002 to 2005. Will it affect the schools quota of intake?
