Anyway to prevent retina detachment from happening, once past certain age ?

      Any prevention solution ?

For those who went through eye lasik surgery : is there an increased chance of getting retina detachment (long term side effect)?

        Hi Janet,

Your hubby has fully recovered ? Does he experienced floaters before the retina detachment? If he did, after the operation, does the floaters went away?

          on the road to recovery.

he didn't experience floaters. after the first experience, we suspected the cloudy vision was not right. it progressed to a curtain blackout and that was 6am. so we rushed to A&E.

he had lasik to correct his high myopia in his left eye but after 6 years, he is short sighted again (200 degrees). with retina detachment, the next thing that follows will be a cataract surgery 6 months later, because the gas put into the eye to push the retina into place will cause cataract 🤷

retina detachment cannot be prevented. i asked the doctor once but he said no way.
the doctor shook his head when he saw hubby...left eye retina detachment 6 years ago, now right eye. in between, laser treatment to correct the tears. it is tormenting to bend head forward all the time.

My colleague has the black curtain moves when he moves his eyeball. Is this a symptom of retina detachment ?
