Retina Detachment

Anyway to prevent retina detachment from happening, once past certain age ?
Any prevention solution ?
For those who went through eye lasik surgery : is there an increased chance of getting retina detachment (long term side effect)? -
Hi Janet,
Your hubby has fully recovered ? Does he experienced floaters before the retina detachment? If he did, after the operation, does the floaters went away? -

he didn't experience floaters. after the first experience, we suspected the cloudy vision was not right. it progressed to a curtain blackout and that was 6am. so we rushed to A&E.
he had lasik to correct his high myopia in his left eye but after 6 years, he is short sighted again (200 degrees). with retina detachment, the next thing that follows will be a cataract surgery 6 months later, because the gas put into the eye to push the retina into place will cause cataract

the doctor shook his head when he saw hubby...left eye retina detachment 6 years ago, now right eye. in between, laser treatment to correct the tears. it is tormenting to bend head forward all the time. -
My colleague has the black curtain moves when he moves his eyeball. Is this a symptom of retina detachment ?
