zac's mum:
Analysis by Straits Times published today:

“17 schools see more than half of places filled after first phase of P1 registration for siblings”

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/education/17-schools-see-more-than-half-of-their-spots-filled-after-first-phase-of-p1?xtor=CS3-18
The article is not very accurate cos it's written on 29 June. There was a further decrease in availability after 30 June on many other schools .

Chief, why this year no sound from you or your KSP staff??

You have some competition this year. Straits Times has come up with an oversubscription risk calculator: https://graphics.straitstimes.com/STI/STIMEDIA/Interactives/2018/06/ds-p1-registration/index.html

Hi,
I found Mr Kiasu's link for oversubscribed 2018 here:
https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/2018-p1-registration-oversubscription-risk/

Does the Straits Times meteorology same as Mr Kiasu? Have u all compared? I hope that they took into account the Dragon yr # of babies, the added/reduced intake for each schools.

i tried 1 school. come out different in the views on how much will it be oversubscribed. maybe everytime i do an analysis i will compare. 😛

I super stress after seeing phrase 1 take up rate. The school i going to enrol my child left 166 vacancy for 2A1.

I so worry i may have to ballot in this phrase when i am staying more than 5km away.
Worst is when i went to collect my Alumni letter i saw a long list of parents name collecting their alumni letter too (more than 140 names).
for the past 3 years the 2A1 take up number is around 97-98. Don't worry too much.
Keep the faith and cool.

2A2 should be a fierce fight though.

Yeap after hearing from a mummy here and respond from the Alumni office i am feeling less stressful and quite confident 2A1 should be alright.
Hope everyone here can enrol their kids to their prefer choice.
Hi all, I'm new here. I am alumni of NYPS but did not join the alumni association so now I'm at a big risk at phase 2A2. Plus, I live in Punggol. Any advices here? I like Horizon and within 1km but it looks risky too. Do I go down personally to school to register on that day to increase chances? Thanks in advance! -pulling hair out-

nothing that you can do now to increase your chances at NYPS. So just go ahead and register at Phase 2A2 and hope for the best. :xedfingers: No loss anyway.

Horizon Primary is very very popular. Balloting is confirmed for <1km usually. If you don’t mind getting into any of the other schools in Punggol under Phase 2C suppl, then go ahead and give it a shot at Phase 2C. But if you have a preferred second choice then you may not want to waste your chance.

No, registering personally at the school does not increase your chances.

You need to prep that there is no Phase 2A2 for NYPS cos i heard from fren that there may be balloting in Phase 2A1 this year.
If Nanyang primary enter balloting at Phase 2A1 this year : there won't be any 2A2, because 2A2 will be bypassed.

Prepare to enrol into other schools instead, in the event of 2A2 bypass.

For very popular, hot schools like Nanyang : one need to join Phase 2A1 before due (closing) date-line, not leave it to chances, else get left behind in 2A2.

If 2A2 is bypass does it mean all registration is closed?

yes...if 2A1 faces balloting, then there won't be any places for 2A2...then it will move on to 2B and subsequently 2C because 40 places are reserved for these 2 phases.

If 2A2 is bypassed : it means for that particular school that encounter 2A2 bypass, nobody is allowed to enrol under 2A2. Parents in that school just wait patiently for the next Phase 2B to open (register), with 20 seats left. After 2B over, followed by 2C, another set of 20 seats.

2A2 will depend on how many slots taken under 2A1. rough figure around 45+- applicants. - those under here may need to move near to the school to increase the chances. (will still be fierce fight).
