XiaoZhuZhuPaPa:
Hi, I am a grassroot leader applying to SCGS for my daughter under phase 2B and I am living within 1km of the school. Is there a chance that there will be balloting. I reaslized from your table that there is only 29 places up for grabs in phase 2B when I thought that it would around 38. Is there any other schools that we can apply in the Tanjong Pagar GRC that is affiliated to its secondary school as we do not have a back up plan if SCGS for phase 2B does not work out. Phase 2C seems to be very competitive. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you very much.
CHIJ Kellock Primary is a girls school with affiliated secondary. It is located near Mount Faber/Sentosa area, so I’m guessing it could be within Tanjong Pagar GRC. Hopefully not Radin Mas SMC (if it still exists).
Please double check with your boss. -

CHIJ Kellock was the first school I checked on the OneMap. It’s on the Radin Mas sideXiaoZhuZhuPaPa:

XiaoZhuZhuPaPa - I found st Margaret in Tanjong Pagar GRC - Affiliation.
River valley primary with no affiliation is in the grc as well -

Great! St Margaret’s is a relatively good alternative for XiaoZhuZhuPaPa, if he does not wish to ballot (confirmed place for 2B).XiaoZhuZhuPaPa - I found st Margaret in Tanjong Pagar GRC - Affiliation.

But please have a look over at the St Margaret’s thread. There are comments that the school will move to a holding site in Macpherson/Mattar for 2 years from 2020. Transport may or may not be troublesome for you, it depends on your own situation. -
Asking on behalf of a friend who has a sg50 boy.
She’s staying in whampoo so within 1km she had Hong Wen(opposite her house) and SJIJ. But they are looking at confirmed place in 2B. They are also open to moving near St Andrew for 2B. Which school had a higher chance at 2b before she decides to do volunteer. Thanks. -

I do not know her timeline for applying PV, but please just apply first then decide from there.Asking on behalf of a friend who has a sg50 boy.

- Eliminate SJIJ because they do not have PV scheme.
- Hong Wen: monitor this year Dragon year 2B to see if <1km confirm get in. If yes, that’s the best option for her. Don’t need to move house.
- St Andrew’s: if she can move <1km then this is quite a cfmed seat. Unless that year suddenly got several more Anglican church members <1km decide to enroll their sons there. -
Or become a catholic. Its a “shoo in” in phase 2B <1km

Hi Lexy:
Traditionally 2b applicants was around 25-27 so it’s a close call. Sometimes you need some “help” from those folks from the earlier phases to withdraw which this year is tougher since it is more competitive. So in the end it’s distance priority will determine the fate of the people here. If one is under 2B of Rulang and more than 2km, it will be tough.ksraja69:

This is indeed a super good job. Considering this year being the admission of Dragon babies, I am thinking the number of GRC applications will go up by 25% (I am thinking about schools that restrict PVs and not attached to any church or so), then the phase 2B applications may go up by 10% if the number of PVs remain same. Given this, for example a school like Rulang also is a touch and go (the number of PVCs are controlled at 16 or 18), with only a buffer strenth of 4. What is your opinion?
Since we are on the rulang subject, the likely odds for rulang could be around 2.5 to 1 vacancy this year for 2C.
Thanks. I did PV at Rulang. ( sure the No of GRC applicants will increase owing to Dragon year, Not sure whether GRC registrants/year also is restricted). Where do you get this statistics? Else, can you provide me the No of applicants from 2013 to 2017 at Rulang in Phase 2B? Thanks in advance. -

Since there's no PV for SJIJ so does it mean that those applying for 2B will be mainly from GRL? Isn't it better to do grassroot in case if the school have chance to ballot and we can apply for another within the same constituency.

Sure, fine if she wants to do GRL, but to get the letter, it needs far far far more volunteer hours than normal PV. Plus they have really tightened up the rules about seniority etc. Must be very high ranking in the PA to qualify.
