Yup.. thought so too. was telling her reg for other sch then put on wait list for MBS..summer83:
friend very keen to register kid in Maha Bodhi in phase 2C. With only 30 vacancies left, what is the chance of getting in for 1-2km distance? Shd be high chance need to ballot right?
tell your friend no chance, look for other school, too many HDB flats < 1 km, opposite Maha Bodhi school.
Under Phase 2C, SC < 1 km will need to ballot, 30 vacancies left is not many -
summer83:
under Phase 2C, if your friend's child is SC -

if your friend's child is a girl : ask her to apply Haig Girls or CHIJ Katong
if is boy, ask him to apply St Stephen -
Previous years maybe will have chance for 1-2km balloting for MBS in Phase 2C. But not this year due to sheer demand and supply of 30 places. I stay 1-2km away so I get feel from schools that the neighbours are enrolling in. Ask your friend don’t waste his or her kid’s chance. Try Canossa or Geylang Methodist if near the circuit road stretch.

Should have started work on the process earlier... could have gotten in via Phase 2B.
the child is a boy. she is Buddhist. so very keen to go in MBS..
Now, she would have to look elsewhere. -
For MBS waitlist, I will suggest to not get your hopes up too high. Reason being that there will be 16 SCs (+3 additional PRs) that will miss out in Phase 2B. A huge majority of these will be fellow Buddhists who had been recommended by a committee member of SBF. Some venerables are also concurrently on both MBS and SBF committees (Venerable Seck Kwang Phing for one is both MBS chairman and SBF President). These parents should also be wanting to be put on the waitlist. Due to the discretionary nature of the waitlist queue, it becomes what I personally believe to be a "Who you know" and not luck issue. Providing the places to these parents whom are fellow buddhists is also considered good karma for these parents too, given that they have been proactive and done their part in spreading the dharma and their kids will also be able to enjoy some Buddhism teachings while there and continue to spread the faith when they grow up.
Good Luck and amitabha. -
Need some advice from fellow gurus on which school to reg for 2C for my son:
Within 1km
- Punggol Green (76 slots left)
- Punggol View (96 slots left)
Within 2km
- Mee Toh (37 slots left)
- Horizon (99 slots left)
We are SC. We like Mee Toh but with only 37 slots, it seems very low chance for us to get in so left with Horizon, Punggol Green and Punggol View. How will fellow gurus choose? -

With this much demand in the Dragon year, is there any hope for waitlists? Under what circumstances the vacancies arise and give opportunity to those in the wait-list. This year, the chances some one not taking up is very very low, correct? Also who are qualified for waitlist? For MBS waitlist, I will suggest to not get your hopes up too high. Hi, i think you got the slots for Phase 2C wrongly. Mee Toh (360 total vacancies-(195+66) taken up at Phase1/2A1/2+Phase2B) should have 99 slots left for Phase 2C. Nevertheless, for the pass few years, there has always been balloting for Mee Toh <1km. Maybe can monitor the numbers during the last day?Need some advice from fellow gurus on which school to reg for 2C for my son:

For the past few years, there are balloting for <1km for Punggol Green which is higher risk, go for punggol View for higher chance.
