Parents, what are your thoughts on this?

      1) Would you go for a confirmed space in 2c(1-2km) and then put on waitlist for your first choice school? Or
      2) go for ballot in your first choice school(1-2km) and risk balloting out, then go for what’s left at 2c(s)?
Is it all left to probability of the ballot?
My choice would be (1) if the confirmed space is my 2nd or 3rd choice.
Balloting is always a no-no for me if 3 to 4 kids are vying or one seat in that school.

      Good luck!

        Maris Stella 1-2km

        St Andrews junior >2km
        Geylang methodist >2km
        Mee toh >2km

Maris Stella is my first choice but am worried balloting will omit 1-2km entirely due to the little number of vacancies left for Phase 2C this year.
Pls advise on chances. And what is the next best second choice.
        Thanks!
        Jnhh:
        Maris Stella 1-2km (42 vacancies for 2C)
        Yangzheng 1-2km (31 vacancies for 2C)

Which is a safer bet? Thanks very much.
        For both:
Maris stella TUR has increased this year. I found a info on the last day (morning) of 2017 registration: see below.
        https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=83199&p=1788839&hilit=maris#p1788839
It suggest that even if there is a chance for 1-2km, the spots will be very low.

For vivi_vivi : mee toh is out, dont try, St andrew: dont have the breakdown of the applicants for previous years but the TUR this year of 79%, but maybe still ballot for >2km folks. Geylang Methodist has the safest odds. At the same time, i wonder beside all these school you chose, is there any as its either out of range or too close call.

For Jnhh, Yangzheng TUR too high this round, you need to monitor the numbers for the breakdown. Looking purely at the MOE closing number day to day isnt enough, you need exact breakdown <1km. 1-2km etc.

today is the 1st day of registration in person. at the end of today, MOE will upload figures.
schools which are only left with 20 or 30 at the end of 2B will face balloting for sure.

Hi, do you know when the registered numbers are reflected online tonight, does it accurately include the in-person PLUS online registration numbers? Cos I dont understand why MOE was unable to update last night when it's the 1st day for online registration yesterday.
          Thanks!

Tonight’s numbers will include all online registrations made before 4.30pm cut-off time. Somebody got this answer from MOE in previous years.[/quote] :thankyou: that's very useful info!

Yup. Zac’s mum is correct. 😓 Tonight’s updated figures are registered pupils (both online and offline) up to 4.30pm. Any online registrations after 4.30pm today will be reflected tomorrow evening together with the offline registrations on Day 2.

              overclk2000:
Hi, fellow parents, may I seek advice on which school to register for 2C (Singapore Citizen) for my child. I'd registered him under Phase 2A1 with a school in Hougang buts its 45min bus ride away. So am looking for a school which is nearer.

              Within 1km
              1) PUNGGOL GREEN PRIMARY SCHOOL (high chance of balloting for <1km based on Lexy's latest info https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=91621)
              2) PUNGGOL VIEW PRIMARY SCHOOL
              3) PUNGGOL COVE PRIMARY SCHOOL

              Within 2km
              3) EDGEFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL
              4) GREENDALE PRIMARY SCHOOL
              5) OASIS PRIMARY SCHOOL

Within 2km (with high chance of balloting for <1km)
              6) COMPASSVALE PRIMARY SCHOOL
              7) RIVERVALE PRIMARY SCHOOL

Hope the gurus here can help with advice on these options:
\t1. Should I even try for COMPASSVALE and RIVERVALE with is Within 2km? are there any new schools built around the area that will cause the no of registrations to decrease?)
\t2. Should I even try registering with EDGEFIELD, GREENDALE, OASIS? or
\t3. Just focus on those within 1km?

Would you advice that I monitor the situation and 1. withdraw from the Phase 2A1 school and then register my child on the last day i.e 2 Aug itself?

I know i'm asking a lot here hope fellow parents here can help.
I think you can wait till last day to decide whether to withdraw. For Rivervale, so far every year it's ballot within 1km. Compassvale, ballot within 1-2km. For schools such as Oasis, I believe there will still be vacancies under Phase 2Cs, so u might as well risk balloting for 1 of the <within 1km> school.

Thanks Lexy! I think I will go down to the MSH and SA to check if teachers will reveal the stats for <1km and 1-2km numbers. hopefully will be clearer on the balloting odds by then. :xedfingers: 🙏
Good luck to me and Jnhh!

I just called the school. They said for this year they won’t be able to give the number of how many children within 1,1-2 or >2km have registered, even on the last day. Only MOE has the number.

                    Have anyone experienced the same?

                      Just sharing:

                      Catholic high
                      <1km = 30
                      1-2km = 2
                      Vacancies = -11
