Exactly. In previous dragon years such as 2006, 1-2 classes were added to cater to popular primary schools to cater to the increased cohort size. Similarly, when the dragon batch entered different levels, the secondary schools, JCs, polytechnics increased their cohort size too. MOE increased the intake of primary schools for next year’s p1 children too. I think the increase seems to be for the less popular schools. Is it true for your parts of Singapore too?

In previous dragon years, primary schools were still running double sessions. Most popular schools increased their intake by 1 class or so to cater for the dragon year. Unfortunately for this year, most primary schools are running single sessions and face physical constraints to increase their cohort size. Most popular schools are probably maxed out. This was confirmed by the school admin of nearby schools. Only those schools that are relatively new with spare capacity or those that had reduced intake over the years were able to increase a class or two.

Popular schools not only refer to top schools or branded schools. They may just be the neighbourhood schools next to your place, which have gained a reputation over the years and hence are more popular than other neighbourhood schools further away.

popular schools like southview, rulang, pei hwa, keming, nan hua are located within neighbourhood. the last dragon year registration in 2006 had 1 additional class to cater for this bumper crop. even when son entered secondary school, there were additional classes added for sec 1.

We didn’t manage to get in the school of choice and likely to end up with above. Which was what we were trying to avoid. It was a hard pill to swallow but wow, when you end up with a dragon baby, I will need the luck and sanity...

U referring to First TPY PS I suppose? I totally feel you as well. Especially when you have a daughter.

I suggest you monitor closely the stats for MC. If got chance for 1-2km, please go for it. As for the other further schools like Mayflower etc, lets see the TUR on Day 1...

😂 You guessed it, thank you! FTPPS, it’s already a mouthful to pronouce for me, anything that is gonna start with a F.

Armed with the figures and stats from PCPS and KCPS and unexpected TUR at MCS (plan B? What? No plan B), I have faith that my home school distance can’t fend off the applicants from TPY North, TPY Sapphire, TPY West, TPY Rise, Bradell View and all the way to the edge of Macritchie/Lornie. It is a loong shot if I were to register. Murphy’s Law in place![/quote]I'll be moving to tpy north year end and I didn't choose FTPPS and choose Guangyang instead.. Not very far off from braddell area.. Perhaps can think about it?

Any reviews on Farrer Park primary school?

There were quite a few reviews on Farrer Park Primary school in this threads a few days ago. Basically, the feelings are it is better than Bendeemer Primary school.

Anyone saved the final day 2C vacancies vs application number (or APP TUR %) before MOE deleted?

Which schools are you looking at?

This morning i visited 2 schools to be placed on waitlist. The 1st school said only mid Oct then they take in names for waitlist. As now all no vacancies. I asked politely then why my neighbour can apply to be on waitlist for "so and so schs" after phase 2C ends (which is true), the sch said this is their management decision.

2nd school i went also dun allowed waitlist. Tell me to starts sch in XX sch first then transfer out, as now no vacancy anyway. The waitlist for all levels are all full. The admin told me to go to their sch website to download a form, fill up then submit. And he said must inform XX sch now we wanna transfer. I said she yet to start sch only in 2019 then start p1. He said must ask if XX sch allowed the time lapse. What rubbish.

Since there is no specific "waitlist" thread to discuss, I post this here for help. Anyone encountered such closed doors too? Or the schools u asked to be placed on waitlist have a form for u to gladly fill up?

There is no specific waitlist policy. It differs from school to school, and it is up to the school's management to decide.

Schools' management are like parents: some of them are chillax and will wait till end of exercise to accept waitlist; some of them are kanjiong spider and will open waitlist immediately. Some of them have demand so high that it doesn't matter when they open the waitlist, since it will be filled almost immediately. Some of them doesn't have much demand and so must chope each application as soon as the parent walk through the door.
