Jade01:
So in your opinion, which day is more difficult? For both english and chinese is much more difficult than ytd. chinese was in library abiding the rules which is a common topic that can be found in any oral practice book.
wonder why moe is so unfair. my boy damn suay. -
as i mentioned i felt both eng n chinese oral for day 2 is tougher.
for eng, day 1 open house is a common event that most kid would have probably experience. but day 2, speech contest, there is nothing much to elaborate. the child must be quick enough to think of personal experience to say more which how many child have such experiences?
for chinese, library was also one of the test topic in psle 2015 i think. is in the psle booklet. is also about library. moreover, in all the oral practices assessment, library is definitely one of the practice topic. even my p2 practises this topic for his oral. day 1 topic learning from friends is not so straightforward. -

Your son should have had one \"easier\" topic from yesterday then, right? Since can only have either EL or CL today. For both english and chinese is much more difficult than ytd. chinese was in library abiding the rules which is a common topic that can be found in any oral practice book.

TOP schools typically have their open houses in April/May. All other schools usually have theirs in November, before or after the PSLE results. There is a schedule of open houses 2018 available. So I think we cant assume that most kids already have the experiences of attending open houses. Personally. my kids have never attended any open house, so i can’t say that the EL topic yesterday was something that my dd is familiar with. -
Not sure if it’s the same for everyone, but yesterday’s question was about whether you’d go to that school. Not whether you want to go to the open house.

Problem for my DD also, EL oral speech contest is not a common topic. I think most 12-years old seldom have interests to hear speeches if never involves in speech & drama or debates activities
Mine has never attended an open house. So the topic yesterday was not something that she can relate to.
Those open houses in April/May are usually held by the TOP schools. Unless the kids are all of the RI/HCI/RGS/DHS (mostly IP schools) callibre, the majority of the PSLE kids would not have attended an open house yet. The regular secondary schools typically hold their open houses in November, just before the release of the PSLE results or the weekend after it. -
。。呵呵呵

Actually I am not sure what exactly was asked. I am only addressing the point that most assumed that majority of the kids would have experienced an open house, so yesterday’s topic is an easier one. The open houses in May was mainly for the TOP 3-10% of the PSLE students.. so ~80% of these kids have yet to attend one

I think yesterday EL oral topic questions are more related on the choosing of secondary school, as long as your kid has a dream / target school should be able to answer most of the questions. Not necessarily has to had attended the open house before.ryka:

Of course for kids who have attended DSA interview would already have a great advantage. -
my son had chinese ytd and eng today. anyway is my personal opinion that today’s topic is easier.
dif child has dif exposure.
so just hope for the best for their upcoming psle papers in sep!
jiayou all parents!
