      Augmum:

i did not read up much abt the \"peak drilling\"

as for my gal 's school (she was P6 last yr),
her teacher continue to give out exams papers even till the last few days B4 PSLE
everyday, she was busy doing all 4 subjects of past yr papers
and the next day, the teacher would just flash the answers on the screen
and every1 was busy copying down the answers, without much understanding
Currently, this process seem to be repeating year after year and in all school, in preparing for P6 but is it efficient? What reason did you give to the school to bring her out to do shopping?

i don't remember giving any reasons......
anyway, think her FT already knew that
she said something like, \"XXX must be at home studying now\". 😄 😉

          Hi,

The Alternative Story will be conducting an intensive English Holiday program for the primary school students at their center. This program is to expose them to a wide range of creative writing strategies and also covers vocabulary building and comprehension strategies. It is also geared to help children get ready for their PSLE.

          These are the details:

          Dates: 15 to 17 June.

Timing for each day: 10 am - 2 pm (the children can bring in snacks to eat during a 15 minute break)

          Cost:

Original cost is $240 but for this June holiday program, they are having a 30% discount for those who sign up before June. There is a 50% discount if we sign up before June and in a group of 4.

          Sign up before June: $168

I am wondering if there's any mummy out there who's interested in signing up for their children. We can form a group of 4 and pay only $120 each.
Looking for 2 more to sign up together.

Despair now… After putting my twins in this lousy n irresponsible tuition centre for 6 months, I am giving up…How can a centre keep teaching n 6 in a class constanly failing for all tests? This is ridiculous though they said Test papers r too tough… Well, tks to them n my twins fared also 1st time so badly in school…

Anymore recommendation for Maths n science preparation classes? Is it too late? Sigh… I did help them but Maths n science nt my forte… Luckily their eng n MT r scoring A without tuition!!!

just my 2 cents worth. don’t burn your child out with too many courses! Like Augmum, my gal was given papers after papers to do in school daily… never seen so much in my life and her life prior to p6. i had to really squeeze time out for her to rest. in the end, just a month before PSLE, almost everyone in her class started to fall sick one by one. My gal was also at home for about 5 days, fever and cough etc just a week before PSLE. it’s good to start revising earlier but when it is 2 or 3 weeks before PSLE, do start taking rest and don’t go into a panic mode… their confidence level will dip and that will be disastrous…

                  Dear Dreamybee

So sori to hear that and so sori that I did not go into this website all the time.... I am not sure whether there's any vacancies left.... if you are looking for Maths & Science ... I think you might want to try a one-to-one tuition at this stage... someone who can work closely with your child and zoom in to help your child. Last year, my son's friend was in the same dilemma ... 3 days prior to prelim... like after PSLE Oral... some math tutor turn him down... the science place took him in... an English tutor help him.. mum help every night with CL.... So you are better off. He was in GEP and the HOD said that looks like he won't be able to make for ALL subjects. He got 264. Try calling Perceptum.... don't have the number off hand... type in http://www.perceptum.com.sg and number is there. Maths is Mr Kevin Lee and Science Mrs Sim. They are at Bukit Timah Shopping Ctr. I know the Bishan ctr has no more vacancy.

Mr Lee and Mrs Sim are good. I don't think there is any more vacancy over at Bt Timah SHopping Centre. But can still give them a call. They may be able to introduce a good tutor. All the best!

I wonder if the 2010 PSLE parents still visit this thread ?

I would appreciate any feedback on speedmaths 1 day camps.

Anyone tried any of the camps ? What's your feedback ? If preferred, please PM me. Thanks very much!
