Dear parents

Given limited time for revision, do you think it is more effective for our children to read the Chinese & Science textbooks to be familiar with the contents, or dive straight to do assessment/ test papers? How do your children do revision? Thanks for the advice!

For Chinese, it will be good to try out as many practices for sections that aren't directly related to the textbook syllabus as possible -
>>complete the conversation, compre (graphic stimulus with message writing): expose them to the commonly used/frequently appeared words and phrases in these sections such as 免费，详情，有限 etc.

>>compre (mcq), compre (open ended) - focus on interpreting underlying meaning and lessons & values that can be learnt from the story; get them to discuss/comment on the character (i.e. what kind of person they are, which aspect is/are worth learning, what would they do if in their shoes).

Studying textbook syllabus words and phrases mainly (directly) aid in first 15 mcq question and 5 cloze passage questions (of cos indirectly helps too if/when those words appear in compre passages)

we have (P4, P5 and P6 Higher Chinese plus Normal Chinese textbooks). Each level textbook : cover 20 chapters, per level

should we focus on (P5 textbook 5B, P6 textbooks 6A, 6B), leave out (P4 and P5 textbook 5A), if we no time left ?
safe ? That means focus on (2nd half of P5 and the whole of P6) vocab ?

Thank you, for kind advice[/quote]Hi phtthp, for this section from HCL paper, I would suggest focusing on the 识写字 from the HCL syllabus:

While revising how to write the words, it is also helpful to read up on the common 词语s involving these 识写字 (can do so with the aid of 词语手册). For example 乖巧 may not have appeared in textbook passages but it can still be tested since both 识写字 appeared in 4A Chp 11 and 5B Chp 16 respectively. So by reading on the common 词语s involving 巧, the kid will know 巧合，恰巧，刚巧，巧妙 etc.

Which website provides free download for P6 CA1 and SA1 2018 top school exam papers ?

current year (2018) : not free, unless you are able to inter-change your own school's P6 SA1 exam papers (questions) with students, from another primary school. Some schools are still having Prelim (P6 SA2) exam, this week.

u can buy Top school 2018 P6 SA1 exam papers to practise, from the shop located at ground-floor, Bras basah complex, right in front of the traffic light facing North Bridge road. I only saw 2018 P6 SA1 Standard papers for 4 subjects, but didn't see any 2018 P6 SA1 Foundation subject (paper) printed.

not sure if 2nd or 3rd floor shops complex sell Foundation subject (for those who need them)

Hi parents, could you share how you motivate your child to do revisions and work hard willingly for the coming psle? Mine STILL grumbles a lot when asked to do revisions especially redo those questions that were answered wrongly previously. DC esults is more on B or low A currently.

can advise which year do u want (recommend) us here, to practise ?

your kid taking psle this year, or some other future year ?

if your kid taking Psle this year (2018) : after Prelim over (this week, some schools are still having Prelim in progress), can ex-change your kid school's Prelim papers with that of other students' (children) school Prelim papers, after gotten back the marked Prelim scripts, if u wish (need) to practise further.

if taking Psle in some future year, can practise future years' Psle papers.

Hi, my DD is also a passive learner when it comes to subject she dislikes . Recently tried to motivate her with the following :
1. Display the days countdown to psle like a mini calendar and tear one day off everyday to remind her time is running out.
2. Wrote some motivation notes with drawing like 几个月后的你会感谢今天的你。
3. Telling her that she will be responsible for the consequences. Next year will wash my hands off her and just let her learn the hard way. That's life.
4. Telling her to face the tough math questions instead of avoiding it as it will continue to haunt her if she don't overcome it, even in Sec sch.
The combination of all does work on her. Though it's not a drastic change, I see some improvement in her attitude. Hope its of help to you.

the most current and maybe last year's prelims would be good as practice.

we always choose latest, current Psle year to practise, in case due to some Moe syllabus change, to certain subjects (paper)
