Mine still have listening comprehension next week. But effectively the feeling of exam is over

Does your DC’s school give out results in bits and pieces? Like compo one day, paper 2 another day etc..

Some schools marked very fast, esp. Those MCQ question papers, that can be marked by machine.

            E.g.

On the same day of exam taken in the early morning, some schools can use a machine to mark MCQ questions paper, and then give back P5 students their MCQ Paper 1 score quickly, before 1 pm.

            Eg.

for Science, for (English and Chinese) Paper 1 MCQ papers, Yes, can !

Maths : cannot, because inside Maths Paper 1, besides MCQ, still got some structured short questions, which machine cannot mark, must be marked by Tr, manually.

School always return marked (English composition & zuowen) scripts, last.

            Last day of 2018 P5 -
is either 14 or 15 Nov.

P5 Report card, normally released one day before school closed for year-end school holiday.

Those schools that conduct Parents meet Tr session, on 15 Nov : means 14 Nov is last day, for 2018 P5.

              Hi all,

My DD will be taking her psle next year as well! So far she hasn’t had Eng tuition but I find that there are times when I can’t really explain the grammar/s&t rules to her/correct her comprehension answers well when she does the past year papers. Wondering if I shd start her on English tuition. Any good recommendations for paper 2 English tuition? Thanks!

So far the best way to learn a language is to read widely. I used to read like 3 books daily and repeatedly beyond Primary Two. I remembered the small library we set up at Primary Five where I had problems understanding the Filing format but spent my entire 2 years there glued to the books. But be careful of being stuck to a language. I hated Chinese then but wished I knew enough to read 武侠小说 which I loved. So I hunted down English versions... 😉

Chief, after you had hunted down the Eng versions, did you transit to the chinese versions? I’m looking for a light at the end of my kid-hating-chinese tunnel 😓

                        【PSLE Chinese Weekly Preparation Group Class - 悦读理解会】(Nov/Dec 2018) - Trial Classes
Fee: FREE. Each child is entitled to a total of 4 trial lessons.

Venue: 266 Serangoon North Singapore 550266

                        Dates: Mon 26 Nov 2018, Mon 3 Dec 2018, Mon 10 Dec 2018, Mon 17 Dec 2018

                        Timeslots: 普华CL组 - 2:15pm – 4pm; 高华HCL组 - 4:30pm – 6:30pm

                        Target Group: Primary 6 students in 2019 (i.e. 2018's Pri 5 students)

Max. capacity per class: 8 pax

                        Registration via Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/153uvJNKPhNh0sEKPfRGWHTy67Zdojl-ABpHPDub5SrU

Why the focus on comprehension? That's because the skill set involved & picked up will be applicable across various testable components:
                        - Reading of passage: Word recognition & pronunciation
                        - Answering of questions: Works on grammar & sentence structuring
                        - Analysation of underlying messages in passage & tackling of higher order thinking questions: Enhances critical thinking skills
Do you also know that the weight-age of comprehension sections in GCE O'Lvl CL Paper 2 is 85% (60 out of 70 marks) & 75% in GCE O'Lvl CL Paper 2 (60 out of 80 marks)? Equipping your child with the necessary skills to handle and tackle comprehension passages with ease and confidence will stand him/her in good stead in his/her journey of mastering the language and even embracing it's beauty. 🙂

Just to clarify some parent's doubt: It is not compulsory to attend all 4 lessons (you can select the dates your child will be attending in the Google Form) - although understandably, those who attend consecutive lessons will find continuity in learning and reinforcement of the skills and techniques taught. (Registration deadline for each lesson is 3 days before the lesson. Thank you.)
