Hi,

      Appreciate some kind advice.

With aggregate 239, worth giving the risk to try for a school with cut off 241?

Between Anglican high and commonwealth sec sch, which is a better choice?

      Thank you!
Its not a risk so long as you have some choices whose COPs are comfortably within your child's T-score

But yeah, commonwealth and anglican high are very far apart from each other. What are your considerations?

        >Easier maths paper wouldnt it mean easier for more kids that are more inclined to Maths to score?

Difficult math: pupilA 95 pupilB 75, 20ponits difference
Easy math: pupilA 100 pupilB 90, 10points difference
        Know what I mean?

Unfortunately she is not keen in IB program and she doesn't want to be at the bottom of the batch with COP so close to her scores. So MGS IB is out for her. But we respect her decision which ever it is. So needs to feel happy and at peace with her choice.
Yes, first decide whether she want IP or she want O-level.

After decide already, then (next) choose which school she wants 🙂

Hi can I check with experienced parents/gurus here, for the 3rd language options, I see Category 1 is shown "Malay (Special Programme) [MSP] ", so just wondering, is this Malay language suitable for beginner like Chinese without any foundation knowledge? or is it more an advanced program? Since there is "special" there.

We as Chinese is thinking learning Malay is good for DS to mingle with his malay frineds in Sec school, but not sure whether it is suitable for him knowing nothing about Malay now.

Thanks a lot in advance for your advice!
Anyone can advise, what is my daughter chance T score of 250, what is her chance of getting into RV? Or any other I should look at?

Same here. My daughter also 250, I am praying hard COP remain at 250 this year and best is drop to 249 (Happened before) Anyway I already did my submission putting at first choice because we are 4 points above our second choice of BT Pjg Gov High which our choices are quite safe.

Hoping more good indications of COP will drop this years :xedfingers:

Oh you did not chose Nah hua?
No, I don consider Nan Hua , Nan Hua is good school but I don wish to spend time on travelling.

Personally, I will also find out the number of express classes, NA , NT classes the Sch have . ( MOE assign qty of classes n stream a Sch get)

It can also means a Sch with higher COP for express classes has fewer express classes ( limited vacancies, thus push up cop) & more NA, NT class.
I did help a close fren to check b4 eg YTSS cop is getting higher , but the number of express is about 3 classes only , the rest is NA AND NT CLASSES likewise for other Govt Sch like xinmin, zhonghua etc
slight above avg Govt Sch typically can get 8 classes , 3 express, 3NA, 2NT .
Some Sch maybe 2 express , 3 Na, 3 Nt .OR some Sch only have 7 classes etc

I m not too sure abt number of exp classes in popular Sch like Anderson Sec and BT Panjang high? Is it also more than 3 express classes only?
It is about demand vs supply curve too

if the child can meet COP then it is full 8 classes of express stream students.

                  Happy Mum:
Does this mean it would be hard for DS to qualify for IP course?

Hello, please do not feel discouraged. The online data (accuracy not verified...) here: https://www.salary.sg/2018/secondary-school-ranking-based-on-cut-off-for-2018-intake/ & https://www.tutorchen.com/top-sec-schools-cop-eesis-cop/, suggest that there are IP schools for this score range.

Hi all, my daughter’s T score is 235 and she got a merit (+2) for HCL. We are considering between TKGS (231) and Anglican High (238). Both being Express stream only but AHS is a SAP school. Downside is need to hope for AHS COP to fall. We are living in central part of Singapore so to travel AHS is further for us. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Any feedback on Kranji Secondary School? My son got 229. Comments on my top 3 choices, Please:

                      1) Fuhua (cop 232)
                      2) kranji (cop 229)
                      3) clementi town (cop 231)

Shld i swop choice 2 & 3 based on last year cop? will this lower his chance of getting into any of his top 3 schools of choice if I rank kranji as his third choice given he has higher chance of getting into this school? I heard the order of choice comes to play when there is a tie. Please advise. Thanks.

Dear Parents, we are new to the posting system and are not familiar the schools,....our son's tscore is 234, should we chose clementi town (231), which is 15min walking distance from home, or Fuhua Sec (232), which is 35 mins away by bus ? My relative said Fuhua' culture is better (chinese based) and overall ranking or perception is better than clementi town. They also said for secondary school, it is not important for the kid to be near home unlike primary school. In short, Fuhua's \"better name\" is worth the travelling time. Any knowledgeable parent on the two schools or how important is travelling time mean to a kid, please advise. Thank you so much. :thankyou:
