Today (Sat 24 Nov), is Open house at St Nick Secondary, end 4 pm. A lot of teaching staff are around, to answer queries that u may have. Do visit today.

If your daughter qualify for IP, the first cut decision making need to do is, whether she wants IP, or she wants O-level ? Teaching staff are around, to answer your queries. There are also Group Tour, to bring u round the Secondary school premises, dance studio, computer lab, Science lab, etc.

There is also a modern dance, choir, LDDS performance on stage, for audience. Feel free to ask the IP, OP students around, any questions that u have. Diana Ser, is also with us today, to share her past experience with us, as an ex (former) St Nick Secondary "jie jie"

Is sngs really strict about the attire the students wear? Like must the spectacles be fully black in colour? And are the students allowed to wear sports shoes as part of the attire? Or the students must wear two separate pairs of shoes on days they have PE? I am really curious about this as some schs allow their students to wear sports shoes on a daily basis even when the students do not have PE on those days. Thanks in advance!

There are no rules about the spectacles worn. As for sports shoes, the students have to wear school shoes (white shoes) for PE. Sports shoes are allowed on Fridays only (regardless of whether they have PE lessons)

They can wear colourful sports shoes and class t shirts or house t shirts.
On other days, I think it works as long as your sports shoes are all white.

Hi all,

would like to know if any of your girls were from a neighbourhood school and got into CHIJ St Nicholas, did they feel left-out or feel ostracized since most of the girls were from the St Nicholas Primary School? It will only be a small handful of girls that are not from St Nicholas Primary.
At the age of 13, it's the beginning of the peak for puberty, as such, girls are more sensitive.

Each Secondary 1 class :

will have a mixture of both (new comers who just newly joined the school + ex Sngs primary school) students in the same Sec 1 class, to encourage interaction amongst them.

They have one full year to get to know one another, because they can form different project teams for different subjects, with different mixture of pupils together put in the same team.

School doesn’t separate out various Sec 1 classes, by ex primary-school status of where u came from.

Eg.

We do not form any Sec 1 class that is purely entire whole class comprised only new-comers, or purely whole class comprised of ex (former) Sngs girls. No, we don’t form Sec 1 class, like this.

Making (meeting) new friends with new classmates take time, as they learn to build trust, through working together, lunching together during recess, interacting with one another. It is not an instant, over-night process. Given some time, they will be able to form their own buddies, bond together with those whom they can trust, can study (discuss projects) together with, do laboratory-work together in the Science lab, can get along with. Not to worry.
