Section B (open ended questions) for science

This is an interesting discussion. I believe parents make a lot of mistakes sometimes when they accuse kids how it's their fault for some low grade, how it's easy and especially if they compare them with some other kids.realtalk:
Hello! Section B is really tough. I am considering maths heuristic section B class or CCE for the holiday break. I am seriously considering either one but if someone could give me feedback on how the classes helped their kids, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.
I feel you, realtalk. My P4 daughter had the same problem last year. Math was kind of traumatizing for her. She somehow had the idea that if you’re smart, you can do math and, if you’re not smart, you cannot. Her confidence was greatly affected as she was getting failing marks on exams.
I found two very helpful articles for parents who consider tuition for their kids:

I just got to know about CCE. It looks interesting, but it's only 3 days. Does the CCE teach textbook concepts only? How are the activities like? experiments? Any parent whose child has been through can share more? When is the best time to attend it? my thinking is end of the year is better as it will revise the whole year's work? Most importantly, can it help push grades to A*? I saw most of the improvements were within an A grade.
My neighbour enrolled her son at CCE last year, so I decided I’d try it out with my daughter last June. They have more hands-on activities than worksheets, which appealed more to my daughter. But what I liked most about the experience was they gave customized reports to that show concrete feedback on my daughter’s performance. No two students are alike so I believe improvements depend on one's learning pace. You just have to be patient with your child.

Great articles! Very helpful, especially for a first-time mum like me. -
I do recommend sending your kids to tuition, but of course, it’s still up to you. It doesn’t mean though, that since it worked for my DD, it’ll work for your child the same way. The last decision is always up to you. Good luck!

Please let me know if you need any help in the future. I am very interested in youth education in general and many forum members helped me with their post so I am looking to contribute as well
At what grade is your child if I may ask? -
I enrolled my girl to holiday enrichment classes last year. She enjoyed the classes, so I decided to let her continue with the program for the rest of the P2 schoolyear. She improved by 11 marks over SA2 from SA1 in Science. She’s become more confident as well in answering OEQs.

Oh, I have a toddler who keeps me on my toes! I'm banking the articles for future use! But I do have a sister who has 3 daughters under the age of 8. She can be a control freak at times, so the articles are perfect for her!

I made the mistake of opting for a home tutor for my elder son. All I saw was him complaining of boredom and exhaustion with all the worksheets he was given. So, I had my daughter attend enrichment classes at CCE instead. The experience was totally different. She enjoyed going to class because it’s not just worksheets that they provide. They also have hands-on activities for the students. Hope this helps!

Thank you for sharing that wynea. This is an interesting discussion and it can really depend on a lot of factors.
Did your son improve his grade through the home tuition though? Maybe he just wasn’t excited about extra work at home, or perhaps the tutor couldn’t adapt the right relationship for work with him.
Do you know which exact classes your daughter went on in CCE?
