About 40% students in the cohort will get A or Astar for PSLE Maths / Science. The number of A* for the subject can be about 30 to 40 pupils in a top class in each primary school on average. Starting from this year, the number of pupils who scored A or A* will not be revealed !!!
wow, that sounds like alot of A*... top class plus some or some in other mid range classes...
That sounds a lot to me too. May I know how you access the number of A or A*? I assume its on the slides on results day? Is it a new MOE move not to display the results on how the school performed? Thanks -

how different are the question types?
Hi phtthp,
The new format came into place in 2017 so earlier year's papers will be different - there are new question types in 1st 15 MCQ's, won't be able to practice on note writing section that is tested in current format's 阅读理解二, while open ended Compre question types slightly differ too.
Would be advisable to practice using 2018 and 2017 Pri 6 (followed by 2018 Pri 5 - if time permits) past year school papers on top of 2017 and 2018 PSLE paper.
can still practice old papers for general language? -

can still practice old papers for general language?
- overall increased from 10 MCQ to 15
- Q7 and 8 词语解释 (new)
- Q9 and 10 虚词选择 (new)
- Q13 to 15 句子选择 (increased by 1)
For 短文填空, reduction from 6 MCQ to 5.
For 完成对话, reduction from 5 questions to 4.
阅读理解一 used to be (A 组) 4 MCQ in graphic stimulus + (B 组) 3 MCQ in compre. Now, it's just 5 MCQ in compre.
Graphic stimulus replaces the old 阅读理解二 (A 组), which used to be 1 of 2 open-ended comprehension passages. Current graphic stimulus also switched from 4 MCQ to 3 MCQ + 1 note writing question (new).
The old format's open-ended compre passage 1 (i.e. the old 阅读理解二 (A 组)) included 1 fill-in the table question while 3 to 4 out of the remaining 5 questions were lower order thinking questions - i.e. from bottom 1st to 3rd tier of bloom taxonomy - namely \"Knowledge\", \"Comprehension\" and \"Application\").
Lastly, regarding the last question, yes, still can practice using old format papers - just that there'll be a need to find other revenues to practice on the new question types. -

Can any kind soul out there tell us (in a nutshell) what’s the difference between SST and NUS High? From the name alone, it seems both are catering to kids who excel mainly in Science/Math? -
NUS High - 6 year programme leading to NUSH diploma. No O lvls no A lvls.
SST - 4 year programne leading to Os or articulates to Poly.
That’s my limited understanding…
