Anyone has tried this Math Tuition centre called \"Learning Out of the Box\" based in AMK? I find this tuition centre is rather shady in selling their programme and their books. I went to attend one of the sessions to see how they can \"unlocked\" the minds of the kids to become expert in Math. They oversell their programme which make the MOE teachers are not doing their job to teach the kids. Like they are the only ones in the market which has the \"secrets\" to unlocked the children's mind. I find this is overstretched. Their methods are exactly just like model drawing which are the framework which MOE schools have been drilling. Duh. They make it sound like their method is the \"revolutionary\" secrets that MOE teachers didn't process. If this is the case, they can apply for the Nobel prize award for Math Genius.

And their books, they market until that their books can do wonders that even Vice Principal of one of the primary schools are buying their books to teach their students. I find this is really exaggerating. I don't believe primary school resources need a \"non professionally trained\" & \"not much experience in teaching\" tutor to guide the school in teaching Math. This is too far-fetched. If you going into their website \"https://www.learningoutofthebox.org/shop\", to browse their books. There is this constant \"notifications\" that show the browser that someone just bought the book online. Wow, their Math books are selling like hot-cakes compared to the bookstores which are selling more stuffs other than Math books. This show they are quite shady in promoting their services & book.

Actually their programme & books are not cheap. For 5 button badges - they are selling at $29. A P5 guidebook, selling at $35. What type of guidebook can be so expensive? If the contents are really revolutionary, yes, I don't mind buying. But their contents in my observation, it's just normal challenging math questions & solutions which can be found in other good assessment books available at bookstores which is selling at most $13?

I have nothing against this tuition centre \"Learning out of the box\". But as I observed the way the things are being market and \"non-proven\" testimony from the MOE school, I just hope the parents will be more vigilant with their hard-earned money and be wise in choosing the right tuition centre or tutor.

I don't doubt the owner has a passion in teaching math and imparting passion to the students he teach. But in order to get more business, some of the ways they promoted their business I find it's is quite \"unethical\" in my own personal opinion. This is what I feel.

How about other parents who have tried this centre \"Learning out of the Box\"? Any input?

I currently have 2 students who are formerly from this centre, and their mom did share the same sentiments as you.

Recently, I enrolled my son to this tuition program and he is enjoying the lessons a lot. He mentioned that the tutor explanation is very clear as they emphasis on the main/important concept and afterwards the tutor will teach him how to approach question in a faster manner/easier way. Tutor seems to be very experience as she can roughly gauge and predict questions. My son really enjoy it and will be willing to attend her lessons. Most importantly, she showed me result at an affordable price for almost all parents. Hope this help.

My DD will be in P3 next year, and she is not so strong in her math, want to find a good math tution center for her. After explorer here for a few days, i found below are some good center recommanded by parents. I don't know which one is better, hope can get more feedbacks from kiasuparents...Or any other good one I missed?

                    1. Math Hub
                    2. Global education
                    3. The learning lab
                    4. kumor
                    5. MPM (seems for small kids)
                    6. Enopi (seems for small kids)

                    Thanks a lot...
Primarily, you may want to assess if 1-1 will be a more effective approach for your child.

                    Regards,
                    Eric

Personally, i do not have good experience with TLL Maths. TLL teacher was kind. But I don’t think DD enjoys the class plus the tons of worksheets kills her joy of learning. In the end, have to pay high price in P6 for a Maths tutor to catch up on the concepts in P5.

Luckily, DD is a high ability kid with above avg Maths capability. Managed to get an A* for PSLE.
I am not suggesting you to go for my DD Maths tutor. I think most importantly, the kid must enjoy the class and like the way the teacher teach.
My 2 younger ones are with a non-branded centre taught by ex-school teachers. Both doing well and enjoying their class.

For all parents out there who are still actively looking for a tutor. I can recommend you my sons’ tutor who is a math and science specialist. Their results improved significantly and our tutor have been with us for a long time. Materials like papers are also given out to supplement learning.

If you need some info, our tutor have been producing As and A* students at psle and distinction students for O levels. Our tutor himself was formerly a Top O and A level student. He is dedicated, patient and adaptive. He is able to adjust his teaching styles to suit the needs of your child. After having to change tutors for my children, I can confidently tell u that he is unlike any others. His rates are significantly higher but worth the money because all my kids are getting As consistently in exams.

If you need the contact, pm me to get his details. For fees, pls check with him directly.
