In conclusion , I think this is totally unfair .

I still think that EL day one and CL day two are common topics and can obtain through reading , the children are able to talk about it .

However , the CL day one and EL day two are questions that are high level.. requires a lot of thinking-skills.
This reminds me of I think a few years back where it was brought up about the math ppr being difficult.
Became a big issue when parents started complaining to the media and to the exam board.

Thanks chenlaoshi. Actually my child says she got 4 questions, and kind of repeated the same points for the 3rd and 4th question. The 4th question is the ‘清洁公人‘question which I posed, but she says she can’t remember what were the 2nd question and 3rd question asked. I am assuming 2nd should be a 经验题。 so kind of worried 😟

We got 5 questions for chinese oral…

          Bad news?.. sweat.
Heard that some got 3 or 4 but their tr said 3 plus 1 are almost standard, a must for chinese oral…

Am i to assume that those who are asked 4 or less are the scorers?

保持环境清洁 is a subtopic under 环保, just like for example 有公德心 is a subtopic under 懂得为别人着想.

Time to recharge over the weekend and prepare for Prelims! :rahrah:

Dd memorised the answers for this topic as we were sure it will come out for prelim or PSLE this year. However, she did not get the prelim topic as compared to her peers who took prelim oral on first day. This time, PSLE Chinese Oral appears this questions on 2nd day and dd did not get this topic too.

I should say she is lucky not to get this topic for Day 2 Chinese Oral as this topic requires correct and standard vocabulary for the Chinese oral.

PSLE Day 1 Chinese Oral is still considered easier than Day 2. Day 1 answers 对考官来说会带一点新鲜感。

PSLE Day 2 Chinese Oral will have the same type of answers for most candidates and answers are 大同小异。

            CL

Day 1: Easier to relate to cause it involves them personally. So should not have a situation where they have no idea what to answer. Can talk about the topic in a more casual manner (no social/ ethical worries).

Day 2: Easier to prepare for in terms of reading and memorizing. More 'landmines' in terms of exact nouns to be used (垃圾回收箱、垃圾分类、再循环、废物利用、环境污染)

How do we sieve out the excellent from good ones? By being more particular about the nouns and verbs used (and the variation in sentence structuring), the depth in which the students elaborated on their thoughts and answers as well as their responses to 转向问题. So does 'easier/more expected' topics mean it's easier to score and unfair to those who got the \"less common\" topics like Day 1's? I certainly don't think so. 😄 Worth noting that examiners' expectations changes according to the topic too.

4th question in 转向问题. No worries, if she managed her answers well for their earlier questions, will still be able to achieve 1st tier. Those questions would already have helped the examiners decide which tier to grade the student in. 转向问题 are more for deciding 13, 14 or 15 mark for 1st tier 10, 11 or 12 for 2nd tier etc.

*15 marks mentioned is content component under conversation.

jasst, don't worry, no. of questions asked has no direct relation to the marks.

Chenlaoshi, so does it mean getting 4 questions is better than 5? 以此类推?

Nope 😓 4-6 still ok, do check out my earlier post.

It could be the student is tier 1 for content and I want to decide the exact marks to award the student.

It could also be I want to see how he/she respond to this/these 转向问题 and if he/she does well, I can switch up his/her tier from 2nd (highest 12 marks) to 1st (lowest 13 marks).

Of course, through the answer, will affect the other 15 marks too (language component).

All these 'little' marks are important. For example: Content 12 Language 13 vs. Content 14 Language 14
difference is 3 marks already (can easily affect quest for A*)

After reading number of qns yesterday I asked dd and dd says, more qns doesn't mean bad (i m not sure) says she got 6 for one of cl orals (non psle) and got a full..chenlaoshi, what dd says possible mah?[/quote]Yes MrsKiasu, more doesn't means bad. Reasons as stated above.

However, if too many ~8/+, then could be worrying. Unlikely that the examiners need so many questions to decide. Would be more likely a case of them trying to get the student to elaborate more in hope of him/her being able to handle the questions asked and earn better grading (vs. original not too satisfactory one).
