I am curious. Is the proportion of other JCs also similar to EJC in terms of IP and JAE students? As in 2/3 IP, 1/3 JAE?

SNGS (IP) : 1 / 4

When you say “not as great”, you probably may want to explain what is “not as great” or what is considered \"great” to you. As far as the published results had shown, which Esteema had done a comparison, EJC is producing the results that it is expected to produce.
I can totally understand why the better students (in terms of O Level results) would not want to choose EJC in the last 2/3 years. Given all the good choices that they can have, why pick a JC that’s in an interim location, out of the way and very much outdated / worn down?
Hence, EJC has probably the widest gap in terms of academic ability between the IP and OP students among all the IP JCs. Results not being as great is hardly a surprised. With the new campus, and being closer to CHS and SNGS, two of the constituent schools, expect big things to come from EJC.
Unless was 67% JAE at that time then its understandable.
Flaw in teaching depts, maybe.
Actually... if we take your EJC cohort breakdown at face value, EJC result is actually damned impressive. Considering that 33% of the cohort are from JAE (2017 intake COP 11/10), it’s average UAS of 82.4 is actually outperforming their expectation when you compared it to other JCs such as VJC average of 83.7 (IP and COP 8/6) and NYJC median of 84.4 (COP 8/7).
Dude,
My words 'results not as great' was taken from wat u said abt Ejc results 👉\"Results not being as great is hardly a surprised.\" LOL
👉\"if we take your EJC cohort breakdown at face value\"- goggle ST news Ejc news dated 14/1/2017, u see 67% fr IP feeder.
Wif only 33% JAE, wats de initial predicated expectation from these 9 pointers JAE cohort that dude you said UAS 82.4 is damned impressive?
9 pointers is not bad score.
Vjc n Nyjc results re better than Ejc.
Fyi, Nyjc medium isnt 84.4, its med above 85.
Its Njc med 84.4.
College Mgt shd tackle the disparity culture between IP n JAE now as its an issue brewing. Some JAE kids re feeling it. -

Commitment for IP is for all 6 years.
You cannot exit to enroll in another JC (because end destination is still the same - A Level and you are just trying to circumvent IP/JC requirements). You can, however, exit to polytechnic. For enrollment purposes, polytechnics now take IP year 4 results as the equivalent for O Level.

So sounds like RI released the boy to HCI. Was he DSAed? I think the issue is if a DSA student can transfer our after Sec 4. I suppose if the boy got into RI IP on his own merit, he should eligible to participate in the DSA year 5 and JAE. Only thing is, did he enter HCI using Sec 4 result since he unlikely did his O Levels right? -

There may be past cases of DSA IP kids who transferred to another IP JC, but I believe that MOE has since clamped down on this and now IP students cannot transfer to another IP JC at the end of Sec 4 (entered Sec 1 either through Sec-DSA or S1-posting). Can only go to IP JC if 1) via O level results, or 2) transfer at JC1 (maybe?) -

"During the J1 orientation period, it extremely hard to mix in with the JIP students there, as they already are together with their OG (orientation group) for the past month. There were instances where they tried mixing in the JAE with the JIP students, but there was certainly still a barrier between IP n JAE.
If you are coming from JAE, expect the fight for leadership positions in school to be tougher as compared to other JCs, as the JIP has a higher advantage (reputation was already built up in secondary and OG period).
But overall, students here are quite friendly." -

Idk.
Sajc only hv abt 23-25% feeder cohort. -
I think, if you go in with an open mind, there should be no problems mixing with the IP students. If you keep thinking, oh I am JAE, they are IP/ old friends for past 4 years, you are the one setting yourself up with the barrier. Afterall, the IP students dont know every IP student, I dont think RI do lessons with RGS, they also only meet in JC. I also dont think Cat High and SC and SN study any subject together from sec 1 to sec 4.
On a side note, it is like joining a sec sch with affiliated pri sch — they can be from the same pri sch but may never have been in the same class and cca and thus have had zero interaction for 6 years, they dont know each other any better than the other child from another pri sch.
