Probably is due to high expections

Paper 1 was ok -
my ds told me that he left blank for one 4-point question (something to do with pattern), but the rest of the paper is not super hard.

That is for the scholarship. There should be no such criteria to join the program in sec 3. To join the program in sec 3, the criteria would be set by the school. So it is like you dont need to be a Singapore Citizen to join the program but you need to be one to be considered for the scholarship, along with the other criteria.
I didn't realize that scoring A* in PSLE Chinese (or Merit in HCL) to qualify for the MOE Bicultural Programme scholarships (which take effect from Sec 3)......

It is not necessary to score A* to read HCL in Sec School. -

I know of children crying in my friend’s child school.
Usually scores 85 to 90 for all the schools’ prelim papers and past PSLE papers. -
A fren’s kid came out crying due to paper 2 too. We should bring them for a good lunch and encourage them to just move on.
