Hi, I would like to find out from parents here who have experience with wisdom teeth extraction/operation. I am sourcing for information for my child.

How much did you pay for your wisdom tooth extraction? That price is for - how many teeth, local or general anesthesia, teeth impacted or not?
I had a wisdom tooth extracted few years back. it was done under subsidized rate at jurong medical...got a referral from polyclinic.
used hubby's medisave. $400 for 1 tooth under LA. requested for additional jabs as I have low pain threshold.

I did mine under GA cos I was extracting 4 at a go. The thought of it was :yikes: that I couldn't bear the idea of doing just under LA. That was just before my wedding and got a referral from dentist to do the extraction at NUH.

lalaland, it depends on the position.
I had 2 done at a time but one on each side (only two caused problem ). But mine were half embedded. So the dentist had to do an incision on the jawbone, and he sawed the tooth and removed it part by part. I was terrified but turned out not so bad. Under LA so no pain during procedure. But once the anesthesia wears off the pain was bad but bearable. I like to use as less pain killers as possible.

Thanks for all your replies! My child’s xrays show the wisdom teeth growing at an angle that would give problems later. We are advised to remove them before his braces come off as the wisdom teeth would push the nicely straightened teeth out of alignment. So the teeth have to be surgically removed before they erupt.

I did mine when I was stationed overseas, 4 (2 surgical, 2 extraction) at one go, on LA. I am able to drive myself home after resting a bit at the clinic.

I am not familiar with wisdom teeth removal procedures in Singapore. They seem like pricey procedures to me!

My wisdom tooth was in a awkward position. I was wide awake and only had LA…the lady dentist had to exert a lot of strength to remove it.

didnt even know there were stitches because there was a surgical cloth covering my eyes. Scary experience.

Hmm, I wonder why she covered your eyes with cloth. That makes it more scary, doesn't it, not knowing what's happening?

Not seeing anything is better. When I kept hearing the metal instruments being picked up and put on the tray, it really scared me. Ignorance is bliss.
