Hi parents, if four subjects 75 marks each, is it possible to get 230 to 235?
230 maybe (e.g. if 2 subjects had tough papers n the student did well in them) but 235 unlikely...

Just for your reference, friends’ kids from 2018 PSLE. Boy - prelim results avg 85. T-score 230+2. Girl - prelim results avg 80. T-score 247+2. Both from same SAP school. Maybe it is really the different subjects mean (plus some luck).

However most kids with avg around 85 in prelim got above 250.

Interesting observation are they from the same SAP sch? Is Chinese marks the discrepancy?

So tough. 75 marks to me is a good result yet is so tough in term of T score. Few years ago (psle 2010 to 2012) I heard of children with school results in the range of 60s able to get 232 to 236 for T score. Recent years like so impossible.

School results are hard to relate to psle tscore. Even within the same school, the difficulty of exam papers change. My kids school exam papers used to be harder in lower levels. Not sure if it will be the same for the higher levels.

But for psle standard, 75 to 79 are considered good, hence grade A in old system. Hence 4 As to get 230 to 235 is possible.

Yeah not too bad for those staying in the east actually. If it swings the other way between 230 to 245, still have:
                    Temasek Sec
                    Ngee Ann Sec
                    Tkgs
                    TKss
                    Ahs
                    cchm
                    Katong convent
                    And etc choices...
                    Hi FDL,

Noticed that those secondary OP schools located in the east, that offer Express stream only, usually require at least minimum, at least around 230-235

                        anyone know,
this year ( 2019), Total how many thousands of P6 students sat for 2019 PSLE ?

Is it true that, based on past years' trend

                        Top 10% is above 265

                        Top 30% is above 250

                        Top 50% is above 230 ?

I have to re-read to make sure this is not a trick question?? coming from a veteran of KSP

                        What I gathered so far,

                        262 or 263 is top 3-5%

                        252 or 253 is top 10%

                        230 is top 30-35%?

                        p6 ~ 39k?

                        Hi 6thisnthat9,

                        You are correct

After asked one guru, guru explain that assuming 280 is the highest Top Tscore in a psle batch, although now we do not know what is the Highest Tscore anymore since MOE forbid revealing (disclose) , computation wise, guru explained the basis of calculation, for Top 10 % of Psle cohort ...

Last year, from 2018 batch, born 2006, one P6 student scored 280, she entered St Nick (IP)

                        Info source (under IP category)

                        https://sis.moe.gov.sg/SchoolDetails.aspx?schoolCode=7118

                        a)

Assuming that 280 is the Highest Tscore, for last year (2018) batch.
                        (Note : assuming only, because

                        1) Moe forbid disclosure strictly and

                        2) from above \"sis.moe.gov.sg\" website, the highest Tscore captured or recorded for 2018 Psle batch, was 280.

We all know that it is compulsory, for every local Sec 1 student to study in a Secondary school. And this website contained info for All Secondary schools in Singapore, providing info concerning the lowest (minimum) Cut-off point, and the highest Tscore, PER Secondary school. Thus from here, one can track (monitor), which school has the HIGHEST Tscore.

However, note that this Moe website only captured Non-DSA students' Tscore.

There is a missing segment of info.
If there happen to be any DSA student whose Tscore is much higher than 280, it won't be reflected under this Moe website Secondary school info )

                        Ok, let's continue

                        10 % from 280 Tscore, is

                        0.1 x 280 = 28 points

                        Take (280 - 28) = 252 points

Based on above basis of calculation, what do we end up with ?

we end up with 252, & 252 is indeed above 250.
That's why many people said that Top 10% of entire Psle cohort, with thousands of P6 students, is approximately > = 250 (and above).

                        b)

How about Top 3 percent of Psle cohort ?
                        it is computed as

                        0.03 x 280 = 8.4 points

                        Take (280 - 8.4 ) = 271.6

so, those who scored 271.6 and above, fall under Top 3 % of entire Psle cohort

                        c)

How about Top 5 % of Psle cohort ?
                        it is

                        0.05 x 280 = 14 points

                        Take (280 - 14) = 266

So, those scored 266 and above, belong to Top 5% of Psle cohort

( guru explained that from calculation, one can understand clearer / better, for Top 10% only )
