Just wondering... Most mention distance as a factor in school selection...any parents here of older kids who travel to school?
Or anyone who does not mind the travel time and is considering a school that requires travel?
What would you consider as an OK traveling time?
What is considered an OK travelling time really depends on individual. However, do take note that your child will be staying in school for much longer hours. 3 to 4 days staying till 6 plus can be quite common in secondary school. So you have to ask yourself of you are fine with your child spending an hour travelling home from school after he or she has spent 10 or more hours in school.

Hi, anyone has feedback on CHIJ Toa Payoh vs PLMGS? Distance wise, CHIJ is slightly further but both are less than half hour journey for us.

personally i feel tat door-to-door 45 min is roughly the max travel time for a reasonably comfortable routine in sec sch, considering tat they often have to stay late in school for all kinds of activities.

I would consider 30 minutes door to door is okay to my dd.

My boy went to VS, very far from home.
He had a choice of SJI (10-15 mins), ACSI (minimum 50 mins), CHS (10-15 mins) and VS (minimum 50 mins) but chose the furthest.
But he was never late. He didn’t mind travelling, spent his time napping on the bus. No impact on his grades in VS and VJ too.
He got used to waking up early to study and planning his journeys.
There are boys staying in Boon Lay, Sembawang, Woodlands, Clementi, Pasir Ris etc who goes VS. Some were head prefects and student leaders.
The principal of VJ joked that the students who are always late stays next door : )

Anyone can advise how many Sec 1 classes are there in Cedar Sec?

How many IP classes and how many O Level classes?

Also for DSA, is it cap at 40 students for each school?

If based on Prelim results (Total aggregate x 0.75), How far is the PSLE results compared to Prelim? Can someone share some statistic? Mine is +14
                    My youngest child is +40.
I find it strange that teachers like to use this predictor. It does no good whether prediction is high or low.
Thankfully his older sibs were all +30-+40
Otherwise he wld be so demoralised.

Generally, most students would benefit if their score is close to the median, i.e. they are not too strong and not too weak relative to their cohort. Since schools typically set their pace according to the strength of their cohort, the student is unlikely to have to slow down considerably for their weaker school mates or to speed up to catch up with their stronger mates.
                      Agree. Very important consideration.
In sec/JC, it’s not only academics that a child needs to handle.

wow, +40 is quite amazing n rare but commendable. i can juz imagine the reactions of teachers n frens when they find out tat the student's T-score went fr 230 to 272 😂
