Hi, may I ask what is the requirements to join string ensemble CCA ? How often do they practice for CCA and on which day ?[/quote]
This website should have info on all the CCAs: https://hwachongpe.wixsite.com/sports4all/co-curricular-activities

Last updated for the 2019 Sec 1 cohort, so might have some changes, but should be fairly accurate

Can anyone advise how easy or difficult it is to get into water polo cca, assuming boy is an above average swimmer with no water polo experience? How many sec 1 boys (excluding dsa boys) do they accept into the cca each year?

            Hi all,

HCI has isparks class for the GEP kids and the top main stream scorers. Can I know what is the minimum Tscore the main stream scorers must have to be eligible to isparks class? Any idea on the number of intake of students for isparks class each year?

Does RI have special class for the GEP and the top main stream scorers? Or all classes are a mixture of different Tscore students?

Between these 2 schools - HCI and RI, which is preferred in terms of future career prospect, academic opportunities with local uni/foreign uni character building and culture of the school? Appeciate someone can advise. Thanks.

There are around 25-28 students in each class (depends on the year) and there have been 3 iSpark Sec 1 classes for the past few years, so probably about 75-85 per year. Not too sure what the “minimum T-score” is though.

From my understanding, the allocation of mainstream students to iSpark is not based on t-score. Rather, they would be from the pool of DSA students and assessed suitable for the iSpark program, on top of the t-score ultimately achieved.

                  Which section in Strings?
Cello, Double Bass - no strings experience required. Mid-grade piano suffices (I think, it's the ability to read bass clef lol)

1st Violins usually high violin grades. Other violin players will play 2nd Violins or Viola.

Strings is not considered a demanding CCA at HCI - it's twice a week. Currently, Wed and Fri, 3 to 6 pm. Days may change though - used to be Mon and Fri I think. Can't remember the details. There will be holiday practices and all 🙂

Hmm I think there are high PSLE scorers in every Consortium, not just iSpark, though it is probably fair to say there are more high PSLE scorers in iSpark.

Actually I don’t think the playing field is uneven even if one is not from iSpark.
After Sec 2, a good number of non-iSpark kids join iSpark for special programmes; in the same way, a good number of iSpark kids move out of iSpark to other Consortiums depending on their subject combinations.
iSpark hosts the Math and Science, and Humanities Special Programmes in Sec 3 and 4 but not all students opt to read them even if they qualify.

                      Hi,

Can anyone advise which MRT station is nearest to HCI for the secondary section? Thank you in advance!

Wonder, are there any parents chat group for 2020 year 1 students?
