ESIS is a scholarship towards IS.

Criteria is based on top 1/3 of students eligible for independent schools (not IP schools). Not based on being posted.

So, if there are 1800 IS places across Singapore, the cutoff is based on the top 600 students. Based on eligibility only and not on whether they take up the place, IP or non-IP, PR or not etc.

Since there have been questions on ESIS, can I also clarify how 261 was derived? Is it the top 1/3 of the top 10% of cohort?

      Singaporeans only.

Hi, we r thinking whether to put either HCI as our 1st option and trying to find out more about HCI. Can anyone advise on the
          1) school hours ( i.e. what time need to report to school?) The travelling time is approx 1 hour from my place so need to estimate the timing to prepare for school.
          2) number of CCA required to take up for their students
          3) approx. number of days in a week to stay back for CCA

If a child joins a SAP school, will taking a third language benefit or add an disadvantage (i.e. need more time on travelling to language centre and learning the language)

If my ds choose Spanish, which centre does he go to? How often and how long per week? Are the lesson conducted on weekdays or weekends?

          TIA for the advice.
          1) starts at 7.30 except Friday 10am
          2) 1 cca
          2) minimum 2 days. For sports, usually 3 or more.
          4) Spanish is at Newton only. Once a week, Shd be 3.30-6.45 or 3.15-6.30. HCI designated 3rd Lang day is Thursday

              SCGS IP 252
              Cedar O 250

Cedar IP will be safe but in case not, yr dc very likely 100% get TJC IP.
Sadly, there has been many -ve feedback on TJC IP especially JC level such as super super strict rules ,
average A level results ( last among IP JCs), no school spirit.
Im referring to JC Level which yr dc goes in after 4 yrs.
Why not opt St Nicholas IP as 3rd choice?

Why not opt St Nicholas IP, as 3rd choice?

based on Timmei13 choices, i think she stay east, hence St Nick is very far for her daughter in Ang Mo Kio.
Thus, she didn't choose St Nick (IP)

                hi Timmei13,

you can consider swap your order, around
                Put SCGS (IP), before TJC

Once your girl enter SCGS (IP) successfully, no need to select St Nick (IP) anymore, because come Year 5,
whether come from SCGS or from St Nick, all will join the same Eunoia JC

unless you are saying that, u feel more comfortable with Temasek JC (IP), because no matter what, TJC A-level curriculum had been there existing for many years, while EJC only gone through first-maiden batch A-level last year (2018), hence more prudent

                And

TJC is much nearer your house, more convenient, perhaps u stay opposite TJC[/quote]hey... I didn't say those things that appeared that I said so... so I'm correcting it here....

261 is derived based on the whole cohort eligible for IS based on earlier response.

Only Singaporean students in this band are eligible for ESIS scholarship if they enter IS.

Your Q earlier was on cutoff. And yes, student admitted to OP track are eligible as well as long as they fit the criteria and enter IS.

Can anyone share how heavy is an IP track as compared to O-level track?

I heard from some friends that IP will take up additional 2 to 3 hours for 3 times a week and the kids go back late almost every day.

I thought IP is supposed to be less hectic academically so that the children has more time to do other things other than mugging for exams?

So how come so much more additional time is needed for IP track every week?

I am trying to understand whether it is better to let my kid to try O-levels first and move to IP in Sec 3 if he can qualify later.

                    Thanks for your help.

RGS not happening im afraid. The cop will prob go up +2 or +3.

She is through to NJC no issues.

However i would put MGS as 2nd choice if u r serious about it....may have a chance. Though i suspect mgs cop for 2020 year 1 could be 259 +1 from this year.
                        Good luck
Thanks. She is more interested in 1st 3 choices. Is our last choice safe ? Not sure if should put another lower COP school just in case ?
