Thks phtthp, mommyNg, winsomelosesome!
Yes I’m staying in tampines. At first, we also consider SNGS but after taking mrt, still needs to take bus abt 30-40 min, too long ride. Thus we choose SCGS, more convenient after mrt, just walk abt 5 min?erhmmm but now I’m a bit hesitant to put TJC after heard the comments😂
Btw, for 3rd lang can we change to ..let say Malay fr German after 2 terms if can’t cope?
Thks so much parents!!

For St Nicks, my understanding is that there will be a new mrt line (brown line, that stops right in front of the school). The line should open next year or so. Do explore that.
Mayflower Station - mid 2020.
Change train at Caldecott Station (CCL).
Will involve a couple of transfer if coming from Tampines.
Hi, need help.
I'm confused with the choice placements. Understand that if 2 kids have the same Tscore and are fighting for the last vacancy, it doesn't matter if first kid has chosen school A as the 2nd choice or the other kid has chosen the same school as the 3rd choice. They would be allocated either by citizenship or by balloting.

In this case, does it mean it doesn't matter how we arrange our choices (assuming score is 221), for eg :

1. School 1, COP 222 (no vacancy, not allocated)
2. School 2, COP 222 (no vacancy, not allocated)
3. School 3, COP 220 (has vacancy)
4. School 4, COP 221 (has vacancy)

Will the kid be allocated school 4 first even if we put school 3 as 3rd choice?

Appreciate your advice.

The algorithm for this might go like:
For Applicant X, Check if School n (n being the nth ordered choice of X) has vacancy --> No --> Check if School n+1 has vacancy --> Yes --> Check if it is the last vacancy
If it is not the last vacancy --> post X to School n+1
If it is the last vacancy --> put X on hold and check if Applicant X+1 has the same rounded T-score as X
If yes --> check if Applicant X+2 has the same rounded T-score as X+1, and so on
Next, check citizenship status of Applicants X, X+1, .... etc
Final step --> conduct computerised ballot for Applicants with SG citizenship status --> post the balloted Applicant to School n+1 --> current year COP of School n+1 has been determined and School n+1 exits from posting exercise

Hi, is it only for the last vacancy? Does that mean there may be applicants with a lower t score than applicant X but put school as first choice got the place before reaching the last vacancy? If so, does that mean choice matters too?

Let's say the 3rd choice school has no vacancy, applicant X will go to his 4th choice. But what if the last applicant of 3rd choice school has a t score lower than applicant X, applicant X is not given the place? Then that means choice matters ya?

Felt fascinated of how the algorithm works. :)
I think wat u described won't happen. Even if the so-called last applicant of 3rd choice school has a lower T-score based on decimals, the rounding of T-scores (which only happens for deciding who to post to the last vacancy) will mean tat all SG-citizen applicants with the same rounded T-score are put thru the computerised balloting. For example, let's say applicant A has T-score 231.4, B has 231.1, C has 230.7, D has 230.5 , and they are all SG citizens, so for the last vacancy, all four of them will go thru the balloting. Let's say C wins the ballot. Then, the system will proceed to process A's next choices becos A is ranked highest currently without a school.

based on Timmei13 choices, i think she stay east, hence St Nick is very far for her daughter in Ang Mo Kio.
Thus, she didn't choose St Nick (IP)

hi Timmei13,

you can consider swap your order, around
Put SCGS (IP), before TJC

Once your girl enter SCGS (IP) successfully, no need to select St Nick (IP) anymore, because come Year 5,
whether come from SCGS or from St Nick, all will join the same Eunoia JC

unless you are saying that, u feel more comfortable with Temasek JC (IP), because no matter what, TJC A-level curriculum had been there existing for many years, while EJC only gone through first-maiden batch A-level last year (2018), hence more prudent

And

TJC is much nearer your house, more convenient, perhaps u stay opposite TJC

hey... I didn't say those things that appeared that I said so... so I'm correcting it here....

Hi all, may I ask about the Third Language Eligibilty, how to fill in to S1 Opt Form, as we can only choose one language from same category… so it means, let’s say 1st choice: Japanese (Category 3), 2nd choice must be a language from Category 1 or 2 so I can’t put 2nd choice: French as it is category 3, right?

Actual cut-off for ESIS scholarship is 261. No ifs and buts. Based on both Singaporean and non-Singaporean students. Works out to top ~2-2.5% of cohort (+/-).

You get scholarship if you are Singaporean, get >=261 and get into an IS school (IP or OP).
As for derivation, it's based on top 1/3 of eligible students to all IS schools (8 IS + NUSH, SST, SOTA, SSS).

I don't know the total number of available IS places (anyone?). Else can find total number of students eligible for IS. Also, we wouldn't know how many Singaporean students got it.

Idea is if we know the cut offs for the top 2% and 10% of cohort, we generally know how the cohort did and how to base our top 3 choices on.

MOE doesn't reveal these numbers. But, we can work backwards based on some assumptions.

Stevenlsf\" post_id=\"1949817\" time=\"1574780302\" user_id=\"69371:
261 is derived based on the whole cohort eligible for IS based on earlier response.

Only Singaporean students in this band are eligible for ESIS scholarship if they enter IS.

Your Q earlier was on cutoff. And yes, student admitted to OP track are eligible as well as long as they fit the criteria and enter IS.

so can I say 261 is just a reference, the actual cut off could be lower(excluding those non-Singaporean, those who entering non-IP school)?
thanks nite. one earlier posting mentioned that a few students didn't get 3rd language offer with tscore 249.

So that you can curse at someone in a foreign language.

I’m sure KNNBCCB in Spanish sounds a lot nicer.

yep, u can only put 1 choice for Category 3. If u dun have interest in non-Jap n non-European languages, no need to fill in choices 2 and 3, can leave blank.
