yep, u can only put 1 choice for Category 3. If u dun have interest in non-Jap n non-European languages, no need to fill in choices 2 and 3, can leave blank.
Hi all, may I ask about the Third Language Eligibilty, how to fill in to S1 Opt Form, as we can only choose one language from same category.. so it means, let’s say 1st choice: Japanese (Category 3), 2nd choice must be a language from Category 1 or 2 so I can’t put 2nd choice: French as it is category 3, right? -
I mean in terms of entry to university etc.?

Thanks, Timmy21. I thought of giving DD a try since she seems interested And since it can be drop midway if she can’t cope later.

For IP maybe not so useful, for O levels certain 3rd Lang like MSP/CSP/BI can count as Humanities and gets 2 bonus points for admission to JC.

otherwise can try first then drop out if cannot cope or lose interest -
Which 3rd language is useful between French, German, Spanish and Japanese? Any comments?

order of choice definitely matters:
in your case, your child goes to School 3.
If you really love a school and want your child to go to that school, you should put that school in front. Otherwise you may end up with going to a less favorable school.Buddy775\" post_id=\"1949855\" time=\"1574813179\" user_id=\"92891:
Hi, need help.
I'm confused with the choice placements. Understand that if 2 kids have the same Tscore and are fighting for the last vacancy, it doesn't matter if first kid has chosen school A as the 2nd choice or the other kid has chosen the same school as the 3rd choice. They would be allocated either by citizenship or by balloting.
In this case, does it mean it doesn't matter how we arrange our choices (assuming score is 221), for eg :
1. School 1, COP 222 (no vacancy, not allocated)
2. School 2, COP 222 (no vacancy, not allocated)
3. School 3, COP 220 (has vacancy)
4. School 4, COP 221 (has vacancy)
Will the kid be allocated school 4 first even if we put school 3 as 3rd choice?
Appreciate your advice. -

No I called MOE helpline to understand appeal process. MOE will post kids based on existing t-score. Roughly, appeal outcome will be out same time as posting outcome. If really the t-score went up, you can take the re-issued cert and appeal to another school with higher COP if you wish to do so.
Anyway, even if submit by 3 pm tomorrow Wed, they won't process immediately, because must wait for those students who have appealed for psle results to re check, clear all these appeal cases, before computer can process S1 posting -

Unless your child wants to specialize in a language as a major option, or hes aiming to use his language option for future job such as Foreign Ministry etc.

Learning new languages helps develop the child’s brains to process better. I think I still hv some of the slides MOELC shared.
Knowing more foreign language opens doors to opportunities if yr child plans to study overseas -

Sorry, i forgot to clarify my definition of Appeal

The Appeal I refering to here , is refering to those students who request SEAB to re-look or investigate into why their PSLE score per subject (eg. Science) was much lower than what the P6 student had expected. And per subject investigation, costs $53.
Eg.
If investigate 2 subjects (eg. Maths & Science), why gotten grade B instead of A, need to pay
($53 x 2) = $106, to investigate what happened, during 2019 Psle marking
Whereas another type of appeal that cutepandabear refering to, will arise later on, AFTER MOE have sent the early morning sms to P6 parents, to inform parents which Secondary school their child has been posted to. And if their child have met the school's COP, they can appeal later if vacancies arise.
We are talking about different kind of appeal
