Kindness should be applauded. If the first reaction when see kindness is to criticise, what has our world become?

I hope nobody criticise what a 6-year old had done.

Is there a need for a pastor to \"own up\" like he has a motive to \"hide\" from his flock about his condition?
On the contrary, he sounded super positive and even took a selfie in his iso ward @ NCID to show everyone (in ST today)。 😂

He is known religious leader in the Christian network, esp the AOG network. Sooner or later, his congregants would know from the church grapevine before MOH formally held the press conference on 13 Feb. In fact, when #48 & #49 his staff were announced as confirmed cases a day earlier, his flock would have already found out. According to ST, he was tested positive on 11 Feb, but I believe he had to wait for MOH to give the green light before he could post his own internal statement on 13 Feb. 排队发布新闻 😆
Had ST not published about #48, “according to a source, he is a pastor” first, would he need to come forth? Not about a motive to hide lah, just that he had a chance to stay anonymous but that choice was taken away from him by ST’s uneven reporting.

His flock would have already found out someone in AOG had been infected but that would be limited to a small group. The rest of us probably doesn’t know who he is. Similarly, the DBS uncle who cause DBS to evacuate 300, his colleagues probably know who he is, but we don’t know who he is. Then in this case, why not report his position?

SG’s ICU system right now is able to cope. All those deaths you read about in China are probably due to their healthcare system being extremely heavily overloaded. They have to queue hours in the cold just to get into the hospital. So the deaths are not because the virus is particularly fatal like SARS. It’s not.

I agree those death cases in Wuhan are more likely due to their healthcare system being extremely overloaded.

Let’s say, if Wuhan has a population of 11million and 67K are infected currently. Imagine Singapore with a 6 million population and 30K are infected, do we have enough beds and lung support machines to go around in NCID? If we reach that stage, whoever kena, probably like in China, will have to self heal at home.

Don't confuse Wuhan with the rest of China. Wuhan is just the 省会 of Hubei.

Currently, Wuhan has 武汉34289例 confirmed cases. Hubei province 48175例 confirmed cases. Entire PRC 截至2月14日24时,据31个省(自治区、直辖市)和新疆生产建设兵团报告,现有确诊病例56873例 confirmed cases.

NCID has 330 beds (HEPA-filtered), but can be expanded to >500 in a crisis. Of the 330, 124 are NEP wards. So as of today, we should have a balance of 70 NEP beds (18 discharged, 54 remaining cases) if you're only talking about this NCID. There're other isolation wards in other general govt hospitals in Singapore.

GQF > 1,000. Not fully occupied yet.[/quote]Oh... Thank you for taking the effort to google the numbers. 😂 The figures further validate my view point, given that we only have 1,000+ isolation wards in Singapore, our medical facilities would be easily overwhelmed if 10,000 infected cases occur. 90% would need to self heal at home.

Although may not be fatal, may have side effects even after recovery. Hope is not to contract the virus.

The WHO and other medical info is that COVID-19 can be fatal. However, that doesn't mean that we should panic - it is not fatal for the majority of people who contract the virus, and many only have mild symptoms. For now, the estimate is that the mortality rate could be about 1%-2%, mainly older people or with underlying chronic conditions. Seasonal flu It is much higher in Hubei, probably because the medical facilities there are so stretched, and it's winter as well.

Haha, I am not worried that this will happen in SG lah. I am just trying prove a point, the high rate of death in Wuhan / Hubei is mainly due to their medical systems being overwhelmed and should the same proportion of infection hit us, we will be similarly overwhelmed.

I am thankful that Xi made the decision to lockdown Wuhan, buying time for the whole world to respond.
