Chinese textbook 6B ends with a chapter on graduation. Although I agree the kids wouldn’t have real life experience with it (yet).

what?! graduation? P6 kids have no experience of graduation except for kindergarten graduation which by now most kids would have not memory. that would be a very tough topic for them to talk about.

From school practices, didn’t really touch on any graduation related topic if I remember correctly. Seems like each oral day has 1 tough topic.

hmm... so sad if this is today's oral topic for English. None of the schools or tuition centres would have covered this topic. Very odd and dry topic to talk... let us hope for the best!![/quote]Agree, no one would've expected this topic ! :slapshead:

I think is luckiest day for my daughter compared yesterday's CL. She came back happily today. :rahrah: She told me teacher was smiling when she answered. Most importantly she discuss with me what she had done. I think her answer quite well as she relate the COVID-19 topic too. She told me she will participant in this graduation concert to build better relationship with peer as COVID-19 now, we can't meet each other frequently. ... 😓

Though my DS did not do EL oral today, he said graduation topic is not too difficult as they have written so many compositions on Graduation, so the ideas will be there. Don't worry too much. Sometimes you may never know when they will surprise you in a good way. 🙂

Finally, Oral is over. Fortunately, DD is day 1 for EL and day 2 for CL. The reverse will be too challenging for her as her spoken mandarin is not strong. Graduation and concert is unexpected too.

Anyway, let the kids focus on the remaining components. Jiayou! 🙂

The tough part was due to the fact that the picture has no others word to help kids to answers but my boy said the tcr prompts helped him to elaborate .

Anyway , there is no right or wrong answers In oral . The child Has to elaborate to supports his points .

I consoled my boy that he did well and good thing oral is over and embrace the written exam.

My child informed me that the examiner asked 5 prompts. Is this a cause for concern? Her prelim examiner only asked her 2. I know it’s over but I’m pretty worried and she doesn’t even want to discuss about it at all.

My boy said prompts are to help the kid to elaborate more bc they could be speaking too short, too little or too general ie not enough personal experience. So being prompted is not a bad thing actually bc examiner is trying to help.

yep agree, the teacher is \"helping\" the kid to talk & elaborate more or generate more ideas if examiner feels not suffiicient yet
Shoot n hit target is 3 qns. now seem Avg is 4 qns .

I think prompts are ok, as long as the child has things to say after that. So in a way, if the teacher prompts, I feel it's good! It helps ensure child can cover more, and sometimes to bring child back into topic. But if teacher prompts and child doesnt say anything, or just 1 sentence and there are awkward pauses, then not so good.

But anyway, just glad oral is finally over, can fully focus on written paper now. Jia you everyone! :grphug:
