Yup, try PV at SMPS, RGPS and SCGS, good chance for 2B. SMPS usually 2C also have good chance for PR, not every year though. Can also consider Marymount Convent at 2C. Bendemeer and Cedar can be backup, sure in 2CS.
Wow, and we thought we were planning ahead. But great to know there's a thread already.
My daughter, her mum and I have PR applications pending, so hopefully we get good news in enough time that we can get into Phase 2B via PV. Recognise that as (hopefully) PRs, the priority system means we stand almost no chance if a school consistently goes to balloting in 2C (not criticising the policy, it is what it is). That means 2B is our real focus, and since we don't have PR yet, grassroots is not an option.
School-wise at the moment we're thinking about the following as the stats suggest at 2B we've got more of a chance:
- St Margaret's Primary, as we like the ethos and have friends with daughter's who go there and quite like it. Thinking way ahead, the connection to St Andrews JC is also nice to know as it's close to where we live now.

- Bendemeer Primary (only one available less than 1km away) or Cedar Primary (1-2km away at the moment). Stats suggest we shouldn't have too many issues getting in, especially at Phase 2B. Don't know too much about either of them though.

- Open to Raffles Girls or Singapore Chinese Girls, as I'm a fan of their more academic focus and their high school affiliation. Just conscious that they either occasionally ballot at 2B (SCGPS) or that the trend is moving that way (RGPS). We're open to moving closer to these schools if need be (less for the registration, and more for the convenience), although we like where we are (show me someone who likes moving house lol).
If anyone has any comments on my thinking at the moment, especially anyone with PV experience on any of these schools, that'd be great. -
RGPS is not affiliated to the “high school” of the same name, RGS Secondary.

2. SCGS (primary) PV for 2016 babies will close on 1 Nov 2020. Given that you have not received your PR yet, it’s likely that you will miss the boat.
3. Bendemeer and Cedar at this moment admit both SC and PR at any distance in Phase 2C.
4. SMPS PV application will open and close next year. Still have enough buffer time for your PR to go through. However, I won’t think so far ahead to SAJC - it’s another 10+ more years to go. -

Thanks for clarifying (and correcting) my jargon. Coming from a country where education is 6+6, am still getting used to the whole secondary/JC separation thing. I guess schools that offer the IP track thus appeals to me a bit more as I'm more familiar with it.

Thanks for the clarification. Wow, that's early and a shame as my wife was quite keen on SCGS, but so be it. Likely our application won't come through (esp with delays due to COVID) until early next year, so a shame to have missed the boat by a few months. Do the schools maintain waitlists in case of withdrawals (highly unlikely I'd imagine)?

Don't want to get ahead of myself and count my chickens yet anyway, odds of getting PR are tougher (and more stressful) than P1 registration I think *takes cover*. -
Hearsay SCGS takes only 1 or 2 PVs every year anyway, so you don’t need to treat it as a huge shame really. Their PV interviews are extremely hard to clear.
SMPS on the other hand, doesn’t require any specific skills for PV since their PV duties are simple traffic warden duties. You just need to be able to commit to waking up early & reporting to school around 6-7am to direct traffic. -

As pointed out by several others, RGPS has no sec affiliation to RGS, hence it is a 6.
SC is a 6+4, as there is no JC affiliation. -

I get that. My point is that I'm used to 6 years of high school (in one place) building up to the final exams, more like the IP track here building up to A levels. I'm more familiar with that than the O levels in secondary school and A levels in JC.
Both RGPS and SCGSP are not 6+6.

Not saying one is better than the other (that is another story), just explaining what I'm more familiar with... -

No issue, was genuinely concerned in case the primary school you end up with is not a good match as it does not give you the more familiar 6+6.

In any case, 6 years of high school in one place, as in one location? Not every IP school does 6 years in one place. Most require moving on to another school in another location. But yes, the IP does build up to the final exams, though not in the same location. And I figure you get that too.

Hi experts,it is good to know have the 2016 monkey thread. I have read some past year topics, but I cannot find same situation like me. Appreciate your advice.
I have a daughter (born in 2016) and a son (born in 2019). We are Singapore PR, and planning apply Singapore citizenships, we are here for 20 years and locally educated , the chance of approval is high. So just base on kids are SC to plan the P1 registration.Actually I am quite struggling to send them to co-ed school or girls and boy school separately, because most of primary school with secondary affiliation is girls and boy school.
Appreciate someone share your thoughts, assume kids are SC. We should be at phase 2C, as some schools require kids must be SC before we can apply PV, such as Pei Chun.
Scenario 1: we are stay at Yew Tee currently. South view primary school is within 1-2km; De La Salle, kranji primary, Yew Tee primary is within 1 km.
My question: whether have any chance go to South View as we stay 1-2km? Which one is best backup school among other three schools in phase 2Cs.
Scenario 2: we are willing to move. Either rent or buy. Prefer Bishan, Tao Payoh, Serangoon, central.
Question: if we move to Bukit Timah or Newton. Singapore Chinese Girls and Raffles girls primary school, which one has higher chance?
For my son, ACS and SJIJ, which school
has more chance?
Because I think only within 1km will have the chance, but I couldn’t find an area can cover one girl and one boy within 1km.
What is the best backup for phase 2Cs?
Scenario 3: we move to within 1km of Pei chun, only back up for 2Cs is Guang Yang? Any other back up?
Scenario 4: if we move within 1km of CHIJ Toa Payoh. Any chance to go in at 2C stage. Which boy school is available for my son?
Scenario 5: I am not familiar with Serangoon area. But I feel that area is quite convenient. Any recommendations?
Scenarios 6: compare with primary with or without secondary affiliation. With affiliation, does it means can go to secondary school with lower marks? Is it a very big difference in terms of results. Like 20 points?
Thanks in advance.
