Kid's Social Life : Can Schools Interfere?

I assume the students mentioned in the case are around their teens.
MOE Hater:
Err... it seems that they are in P6??social networking sites are places we tend to vent our feelings and as long it is not offending what is wrong in that? (After all, in P6 you feel the heat)

So true. you're the first person to realise that i am in p6 not in sec school. You have eagle-eyed vision. I suppose it is the uncanny ability of mothersinsider:

You write very well and I guess that's why some of us thought that you are in sec school. I hope that you will manage to channel away your frustration towards your teachers. After all, there is only a couple of months to go and you will have to leave them to pursue your next chapter.
You sound smart and I'm quite sure being here and seeing the comments from the parents who responded gives you the other perspective to the issue. Ponder on it. I'm sure you will see the light.
Good luck on your exams!! :celebrate: (beer change to coke, can?!) -
To all students reading this thread,
Everyone has a different role to play in school. Thats why there are discipline masters and consellors. One is to play the black face and the other, white face. Typically, most teachers would play the role of teaching academic. Some, would go to the extend to teach moral issues, show care and concern.
Just remember, whenever your teachers, parents or friends are upset about your behaviour or wrong doings, this prove one thing - because they care for you, because you have a place in their heart. Why should the teacher waste her energy, create high pressure in herself, make herself upset, make students to dislike her by doing all these? Who are these students to her? Just a few normal students out of the thousands she has taught. What benefit does she gain?
I feel very upset when I hear students say they hate this teacher, hate that teacher. Its so unfair to the teachers.
p/s : I am not a teacher -
I really agree with daisyt, never use \"hate\". It's such a strong word and I see the nick with hate in it.
In fact, I am appalled in general by the casual language of the young people these days, especially what I read in blogs. There are 3 reasons I can think of:
1. Schools are busy delivering curriculum and have less time for \"values\" lesson. In fact the most valuable take-away from a school is the good sense of pride that one can have for oneself which will in turn turn into respect for others as well, not the ABCs and 123s.
2. Stress as many claimed, hence wayward behaviour is one form of release
3. The cry out loud for attention. I know youngsters learn from some famous bloggers to write in a provocative way to attract attention. The most shocking they are, the more attention they receive. Famous or infamous...it does not matter.
And the answer to the above is??? Values....if it is not in the DNA soon enough, it will never be there..
I cannot say enough about values here so I will not try, all I want to say is \"it takes a village\" to raise a child. So whoever has responsibility for a child will have the right to exercise discipline on them, that is obviously very lacking in today's context resulting in so many behavioural issues, and not if a child is gifted or not.
Lastly, I want to share my experiences with teachers. I have the most pleasant experiences and the worst experiences with MOE teachers. At the end of the day, I choose to remember the good ones. Why? MOE teachers are not paid alot, at least that is the reason to deter me to be one, so I would understand their frustrations and words or actions may come out wrongly for them sometimes. So that is bearable in my opinion as long as they don't start to physically or verbally abuse the children deliberately with vendetta in them, I draw the line there. As for pleasant MOE teachers even for unpleasant things they have to execute, I have extra respect for them for going the extra mile because MOE teaching is a \"thankless\" job except in enrichment centres where the commercial gains are lucrative!!!!!   -
TS writes very well for a P6 student. Impressive!
Your teacher did her job.
I don’t understand the fascination with swear words. It is unbecoming and uncivilised.
Even the word ‘shit’. It is usually not acceptable in polite conversation. You try using that word in office or at a professional meeting. See what happens.
Young people need to learn that the path to success is NOT through swear words.
