And can anyone share the criteria and possibility of transferring from O level track to IP within the school by the end of Sec 1?

      Many thanks!

There is NO transfer, from O-level into IP, at the end of Sec 1.
Sec 1, the entire year, is just for you to get aclaimatized to the new Secondary school environment.

      Sec 1,
is to give you time, to \"warm up\" your seat because you just finished your PSLE, so you need time to settle down and get used to juggling with 8 subjects now, from your previous past Psle 4 subjects only. Double the dosage of study work-load expectations

Transfer from O-level to IP track, can only arise & take place at the end of Sec 2 AFTER your Term 4 year end exam streaming, into choosing Sec 3 subject combination .

Schools need to look at your past two years of track record, that is, both ( Sec 1 and Sec 2), to ascertain if you are suitable or not, to transfer across from O-level into IP curriculum. There will be a clearance interview, for short-listed Sec 2 students keen to transfer across from O-level into IP.

      Hope this is clear

How about at the end of sec 1, transfer to another secondary school same Express level? is there such possibility?

thanks[/quote]It is possible. If you want to transfer to another school, whether from express to express, or from express to IP, around end Sep, you need to call up the school you are interested in and register your interest with them. Your child will then be asked to take the school's internal exam around mid to end October. The school will then inform you whether your child has been successful.

The only thing MOE can't stop you,, is if you transfer to International School at Year 5, or go overseas to Boarding School to do A levels or IB or whatever ๐Ÿ™‚
This one, as long as parents can afford paying international school fees, if students want to transfer out this way, MOE wont stop you
        Say, example

Transfer out of Hwa Chong (IP) or out of Nanyang Girls High (IP) to International schools, MOE will give you the green light to proceed, won't stop u

think this is a perennial dilemma to choose between HCI vs RI. My son's score is 267+3. think he prefers HCI, mainly cos his dad is an alumnus. but personally i prefer RI due to its proximity to our home and the later starting time in the morning (745 instead of 720 of HCI , which is a good half an hour more sleep everyday). i am also impressed by RI e open house last sat, whereby the students are mixed up in different classes be it DSA or GEP kids. whereas in HCI, i think the GEP will remain in GEP classes - correct me if i am wrong.
and this morning, we did our trial to HCI by using public transport. its abt 30-40 min from our place.

well we still havent' decided which one to put as first option. open for any suggestions and comments. Eventually I think I will let the boy decide for himself. ๐Ÿ˜„
I attended the RI e open house as well and was similarly impressed . Was hoping the HCI would have an e open house but looks like they decided not to .

Would like to know if this is correct - in HCI , the GEP and DSA kids are grouped in the ispark consortium ? And is the teaching different from the rest of the consortiums?

            1) transfer from O-level school to another different O-level school, No change in curriculum track, Yes, can,

            but

provided there are vacancies inside the Accepting school

            2) but transfer from O level into another different school (for IP track) at end of Sec 1, No, not possible -

must wait until end of Sec 2, take their entrance admission qualifying subject tests , then can

My understanding is that iSpark will have GEP kids and some high t-score kids. I believe all of the English and MT papers are the same, but iSpark will have slightly different papers for the other subjects.

from what i understand only the GEP students in primary will go on to HCI internal GEP. the DSA-academic kids will go on the respective programs they DSA-ed in (eg. bilingualism will go to the bilingual culture program). maybe if there is a HCI parent here, could enlighten us.

My daughter got 245. Sheโ€™s keen to try for SCGS (IP) but falls short of the entry of 252. However, she has an affiliated secondary school with COP of 242 for non-affiliated. Would it be wise to just opt for the affiliated school rather than trying for SCGS IP?

Anyone knows whether the T scores for this yearโ€™s PSLE have generally gone up or down? Seems like some say down but others say a lot of their kidsโ€™ friends have gotten higher than expected.

There is a need to go to the desired school and take their tests.

thanks for this information. it is helpful as no idea this is how it works.
