The higher score (with or without MTL) will be the student's University Admission Score (UAS).
no difference, between (A1 and A2)
How about any difference, between B3 and A1 ?
Is there an official hyperlink somewhere ,
that provide the detailed break down for O-level (Higher Chinese) score, for local university admission,
for
- A1 and A2 (O-level HCL),
- B3 and B4 (O-level HCL),
- C5 and C6 (O-level HCL) ?
Thank you -

Any difference between A1 and A2?
10 marks ?
Without H1 MTL:-
UAS = 3 H2 + 1 H1 + H1 GP + H1 PW
With H1 MTL:-
[(3 H2 + 1 H1 + H1 GP + H1 PW + H1 MTL) / 100] x 90
The higher score (with or without MTL) will be the student's University Admission Score (UAS).

Thank you[/quote]It follows the same allocation as A Level H1 subject, i.e.,
A 10
B 8.75
C 7.5
I am sure that A1 or A2 is 10 points.
Not sure about the rest but most likely the reference will be as follow:-
A 70% and above --> (O Level A1 and A2)
B 60% to 69% --> (O Level B3 and B4)
C 55% to 59% --> (O Level C5)

Strangely enough, I can't find the UAS calculation info on the NUS or NTU websites! Not sure why as I'm sure I've read it there before. This is one I found on another website, which seems correct. For O level grades, A1/2 will be regarded as A, B3/4 regarded as B, etc.

How would I know if it is to my advantage to provide my MTL results?
The University will consider applicants for university admission based on two sets of results - one with MTL grade and one without MTL grade. The set of better results will then be taken into consideration by the Admissions Selection Committee.
Students using the Online Application Form Type I will notice that their best MTL results (if provided by MOE) will be reflected on the form. If the best MTL result is not reflected on the form, you should indicate the amendments on the online form (click here for \"Instructions for completing Online Application Form Type I\" and details on \"Submission of MTL Results\").
Students using the Online Application Form II will have to indicate their MTL results.

How can I apply for admission to NUS under the Mother Tongue Language Bonus Points (MTLBP) scheme?
If you have done well in your Mother Tongue Language (MTL) or Mother Tongue Language & Literature (MTLL) subject (Chinese, Malay or Tamil) taken at the Singapore Cambridge GCE 'A' Level examination, you will be eligible to use the MTL Bonus Points (MTLBP) for admission to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. More information on using MTLBP for university admission can be found on http://www.nus.edu.sg/oam/apply-to-nus/when-you-apply/mtl-related-courses. -

You can just go to the Admissions pages of the NUS/NTU websites.

since son has poly qualifications, it’s really pointless to go backwards to take A levels.
furthermore with uncertainty of NS book out, guard duty and lab work…it doesn’t quite make sense.
he took pure bio in secondary school and bio medical in poly. medicine is a competitive course. will see how it goes when he is done with NS in 2022. -

I think it is extremely hard to cram 2 years worth of 3 H2 + 1H1 + GP knowledge into 1 year study. Some more if it is self study and never study the subjects before. And, I heard need to get at least RP 87.5 to be granted an interview for medicine.
Why not try applying for NUS medicine and NTU medicine with current poly diploma first? I don’t know whether NTU needs BMAT for poly graduates or not.
Or, wait until he graduates then apply to Duke-NUS Medicine.
Or, apply to SMU-Duke-NUS Medicine pathway or SUTD-Duke-NUS Medicine special track or Yale-NUS-Duke-NUS Medicine pathway. -

Pre-Covid, Australia universities used to be very popular among our Poly grads, because they could save one year of studies.

Eg. from SP diploma in Biochem, only need top up 1 year of studies in a tier 1 Aussie Uni to get a Bachelors in Biochem (no honors year). Whereas NUS made them do 2 years to get the same qualification.
Similarly, less onerous/competitive to get into Medicine course in Sydney University compared to NUS Medicine. Both equally recognized in SG. There are also those who are willing to enter non-recognized universities just to get the medical degree, provided they are not interested to practice in Singapore.
But I guess now parents are thinking twice about overseas education.
